I really wanted to make it over but too many things were going on and there just wasn't enough time. Hopefully next month.

While not much of a robot, I've been working on a project with the boy scouts involving an Elenco Titan Tank robot kit. Simple IR based control, no autonomy at all, not the greatest drive mechanism, but good enough for what we're doing with them. They're readily available from many sources and cheap.

If anyone wants to play with them, I did a decode of the IR stream both from the remote and also from the tank's cannon. I've got Arduino code to decode the IR command stream, and am working on a target system: the scouts will have a set time to run an obstacle course and fire at targets in a specific order and get points.

If anyone wants the code (haven't put it on the web site yet), just let me know. The IR protocol is described at:

I'm going to try to make it, but Thursday nights are really busy, so it depends on my wife's schedule tonight.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
