What do you hope to get out of the group?

Interested in learning more about robotics in general and becoming a better engineer as a result. Also interested in applying new knowledge to educate students in the classroom about technology, robotics, science, & engineering.

Would you be interested in giving an informal presentation or demo or leading a topic discussion?

Certainly, if there was anything worth hearing me talk about.

What skills do you bring to the group?

By trade I'm an aerodynamicist. I do research, design, testing, & engineering of turbomachinery (primarily fan) systems. I'm most knowledgeable in the fields of fluid dynamics, but can talk to a variety of topics. I'm also highly involved in STEM Education Outreach in Philadelphia and have worked closely with a variety of schools in the area ranging from private institutions to Philly public schools. I've been involved with numerous robotics clubs and am responsible for starting 2 robotics clubs at local area schools.

What types of robot projects (or discussions) are you working on or interested in?

I'm interested in learning more about Arduino. My poor Arduino is sitting around collecting dust. I'm planning on using it as a flight controller for a quad copter that I intend on designing...eventually. I'm also interested in learning more about Lego Mindstorms and currently use these kits in the classroom as well as building robots that chase my 1-year old around. I'm very open to learning all I can though.

Introduction
