Appalachian Trail Spring Work Party

3-5 miles    Class 2-3         Intermediate/More difficult     
(Rolling hills and some rocks on trail. More difficult.Steep ups and downs, trail rocky but stable) 

DESCRIPTION: Come join us for some much needed and appreciated work on the Appalachian Trail. The PTC has been maintaining a 10 mi. section of the AT from Lehigh Gap to Furnace Gap. There is some briar clipping, some trash clean up and water bar repair. Afterwards, you get a chance to feel good about the efforts you put in to keep this historic trail alive and well! Hikers on the trail thank us! 

DETAILS: Bring lunch, water, work gloves and sturdy boots. Bring clippers or hedge shears. If you want to car pool from Plymouth Meeting Mall at 8 a.m. call one the leaders to reserve early. Refreshments provided by leaders after the work. (Dave's famous post AT brownies!)

DIRECTIONS:  Take I-476 North (PA TPK NE Extension) to Lehigh Valley exit # 56. Then go east on Rt. 22 to Rt. 309 N. Take 309 N. to Rt. 873, bear right, then about 5 miles to Slatington. Watch for the left turn on 873 in Slatington, then about 2 more miles to Mountain Road just before the Lehigh River Bridge. (Do not cross the Lehigh River!) Take a left on Mountain Road, and in about 1 mile make a right turn on Translator Lane, a gravel lane leading to a parking lot. For Google Directions: Use Mountain Rd. & Translator Ln., Washington, PA

IMPORTANT: Per PTC standard practice you will be asked to sign a waiver when you arrive at the meeting place. Hikers are expected to follow the PTC hiking guidelines (http://philadelphiatrailclub.org). Please review the hike description and decide if it matches your abilities.
