Join us for the October Philadelphia WordPress Meetup happening on Wednesday Oct 26th, 2011 at 7pm! The meetup will take place at a new location: Colket Translational Research Building (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia research campus).

Meetup Topic:  Dances with words.

Write tight, write bright on WordPress.

Write your WordPress copy so people will read. Make it short, clear and entertaining. This month Susan Perloff will teach you how to:

  • Organize your material before you write.
  • Apply the primary lesson of good writing: Use active and imperative verbs.
  • Use positive, not negative, words.
  • Use bulleted lists.
  • And lots more.

Bring a laptop or a ream of paper to take notes. Optional: For a free critique, send Susan a 200-word manuscript (or shorter) from or for your blog. First 10 responses only. Send to [masked] and write WordPress Meetup in the subject line.

WordCamp Philly Volunteers - We will also have a breakout session for WordCamp Philly Volunteers.  This meeting will be to help organize the volunteer efforts for WordCamp.  If you are a Volunteer we urge you to try and make this Meetup.

* Please note the new Meetup location

DIRECTIONS/PARKING

For those driving:

Once into University City, the closest parking is behind the Colket building. There is a gated lot that *may* be open, so check it out first. If it isn't open, continue up Health Sciences Drive and turn left on Convention Blvd. Penn Towers parking garage will be on your right. You may also be able to use the Wood Center parking garage. Take Civic Center Blvd. South and turn right at Osler Circle. Continue straight to the guard's booth. The garage entrance will be on your right. More information is available on the Research institute's website.

For those using SEPTA:

See CHOP's information page regarding public transit. There are multiple options.

Thought Provoking. Professionalism polishing. Powerful points. Expansive.
Good topic for a later repeat.

The speaker was excellent. Knew her stuff. I'd hire her in a heartbeat to write or edit my clients' websites.

I had a good time. Could have used more specific directions as to where to park. Signage in that area is not very good. The meetup itself was fine.

Chop has a guest wireless system that should suffice, yes. Also, we just got two Flip Mino cameras and will be posting the talk to YouTube for those that can't make it.

Just to assure everyone: CHOP's campus is well-lit. If you park in Penn Tower or TW Wood Building garages, you'll have nothing to worry about.

I am driving from Mercer County, NJ. Would be open to carpool. Still confused where is the best place to park which will not require a long walk in dark area.

Would like to carpool Wednesday evening from Center City. I have a car. I don't like driving or parking in strange, unpeopled places in the dark. [masked]

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
