Philly Tech Week WordPress Event

As part of Philly Tech Week (http://phillytechweek.com) the Philadelphia WordPress Meetup group presents a fun evening of WordPress! The event will take place on Wednesday, April 25th from 6-9pm.

We've teamed up with the Philadelphia Inquirer to provide three great WordPress presentations:

WordPress for Beginners - Learn WordPress from the ground up. This presentation will cover basic WordPress usage including creating and managing posts and pages, working with media, comments and discussions, and more! Presented by Reed Gustow of WPClassroom.com.

Creating Themes and Child Themes - Themes are a major part of any WordPress powered website. This presentation will take you through the power of child themes, including creating and customizing the Twenty Eleven default WordPress theme. Presented by Tracy Levesque of YIKES, Inc.

Creating Your First WordPress Plugin - WordPress is endlessly extensible and plugins are a main component of this flexibility. In this presentation we’ll cover basic plugin development including plugin requirements, security best practices, and some examples and resources.

Each presentation will run 45 minutes with a 15 minutes Q&A directly after. Tickets are limited to 75 and are $10/each so RSVP quick! 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Nonprofit Technology Resources in Philly.

* Please note the event location is at the Philadelphia Inquirier. Google Map: http://g.co/maps/9jyah

It was great. I just wished it had been bit more in depth, but given the amount of people and different levels I see that's was not possible. Regardless, the people who organized it did a great job.

I never had time to really look in to WP, this event really gave me a great introduction from the basics to advanced concepts.

Great event, though a little more basic than what I was expecting. No issue of you guys, just realized I know it a little more solid than I originally thought. Loved the progression of topics. So much stuff to cover, it's easy to say more should have been covered, but for 3hrs it was a great touch of everything to get people started with key features. Thanks!

Had a great time. Tracy and Doug made clear, useful presentations on child themes/theme customization and plugins, respectively. Attendees learned a lot in a short time!
