Hi my name is Juan Pablo. Spanish is my first language, as I am from Colombia and have studied it in depth. I have been teaching Spanish since 2012 in Philadelphia. I am very professional and I have great experience. Give me a chance to guide you step by step not only for speaking but also reading, writing and grasping the intricacies of this beautiful language from level one to advanced.
Group Classes. This is a very good option for those who are not able to pay for private classes. http://www.meetup.com/Philadelphia-spanish-classes/pages/Group_Classes/
Student Specials. http://www.meetup.com/Philadelphia-spanish-classes/about/
Please do not expect me to answer your first presentation when you sign up for the group. I receive questions every day from different students and it is difficult for me to reply to the presentations, if you have any questions please go to the left part of the screen where it says “contact” and send me your questions. You may also contact me directly at 2157766149 by texting or calling.
It is also very important that you check the calendar that you may find on the left part of the screen, just click on “our calendar”. Here you will find all the events with the dates, hours and the level of the class. For more information just click on the event and there you will find with more detail all the information you need. This is an important tool that will help you plan your schedule accordingly with anticipation. Also please remember to RSVP three hours before any of the events. This will help to avoid misunderstandings and improve communication which is very important for a great service and success.
This meetup is not intended as a social meetup or as an extra activity. This is a tutorial meetup that follows a course and for this it needs perseverance and discipline in order for the student to learn.
I am very flexible with my schedule and I provide many alternatives to my students, from online courses, different locations and one to one classes. If the meetups held on meetup.com do not work for you please text me or call me at 2157766149 in order to set up a different time or day or regarding any questions and I will answer them as soon as I can.
Also looks like there has been a misunderstanding with the information provided on the meetups. To clarify better, no one needs to pay in advance through paypal.com before class. This is only in special occasions and I always let the students know with anticipation.
Please be advised that if you decide to take any of the tests or have already taken one, you shouldn’t expect to be in an advanced level since this course does not only include conversation, but also writing, reading and comprehension skills. This is an intense course that has the purpose of teaching a high level of Spanish that could be used either at a professional or informal level. Also please understand that writing and getting into a conversation are both different since Spanish is not always written in the same way as we talk; this applies for example to the use of the “h,s,c and z”, first because “h” is silent, “s” and “c” have the same pronunciation some times, and “z” and “s” in South America sound the same. This is one example, but there are more and as any language it has many grammatical rules with their own exceptions.
Another misunderstanding which is very common between English speaking people is when they try to translate from English to Spanish and the problem is that many times the expressions we use in Spanish are not the same in English, so when someone talks he/she can make himself/herself understood but doesn’t mean always that the person is using the language correctly. For all these reasons you may not be in the level you are expecting and it is essential that if you subscribe to this meetup, that you are committed to learn a high level of Spanish which is different from Spanish slang language. So if I advise anyone to start from a lower level than the one they expected, I want everybody to understand that it is in order to provide a better service.
You are welcome to try first and second levels without the need of taking a test and if you think that you may be more advanced you are welcome to take any of the tests available following the instructions first given in this introduction (for this please check the information provided in the tests events when you go to the calendar). As an advised please keep in mind that Spanish or any other language is not something that can be learnt in just six months or a year; it takes perseverance and discipline as anything we want to be good at.
One of the reasons why I created group classes was with the purpose of lowering the price and making it more affordable for people, but I also offer private classes. If you are interested in private classes either online or in person, just click on the link already provided at the beginning. You may also contact me or text me at 2157766149, or email me at email@example.com.
IMPORTANT: Remember to bring a note book, a pen or pencil and a dictionary. Remember I will only speak in Spanish and I will provide copies of the lessons that we will follow during class. As level 3 and 4 you will need to pass a test, look levels 3th and 4th for more information, and on top of that you will have to proof your conversation skills.
The conversation classes will include topics that I will read first in Spanish and the students will have to make oral comments about the topic, this is to improve their ability to listen and understand, second they will have to read loudly in front of the group a topic of their choice and we will do the same process as before, this with the objective of improve their reading ability and comprehension, and third they will have to write 1 0r 2 paragraphs about any topic they want and at the end I will look for the mistakes of every student and learn grammatical rules that will explain better how to write, make correct sentences and have a good pronunciation.
Advance level online: Conversation.
First class: You may pay through PayPal or with the credit card, the next class will be given when I receive the payment. Remember I will only speak in Spanish. The reason I will only speak in Spanish is because this class is intended as a conversation class, if there is something you do not understand, do not worry I will try to explain to you through images or at the end of the class I will take notes and later send you information through email for you to study.
The online conversation classes will be the same as the normal conversation classes before, the only difference is that will need an Skype account (this is a free way of doing multiple video conversations online). Please keep my phone number handy (215 776 6149) if there is any inconvenient or you if you need to ask me something before the meet up.
