Hiking the Blues Away (with wine and concert)- Only 5 Spots Left.

  • Sep 9, 2012 · 9:00 AM

Skill Level: 6 - This is an 8 mile hike with significant elevation change. (1100 ft.)

This is the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer! We have hiking. We have wine. And, we have a Blues Concert at the Winery.

First up, one of the most popular trails in Pennsylvania - The Pinnacle and Pulpit trail. This trail is known for its sweeping views of Hawk Mountain, the Lehigh Valley, and Blue Rocks. Rocky forest footpaths and abandoned roads follow forested mountain trails and mountain streams to a ridge-top boulder outcrop. AT thru-hikers often claim the views at the Pinnacle are the best views in Pennsylvania.

But, this is no walk in the park, you'll get a killer workout with all the climbing on the way up, and the whole hike takes about 5 hours. But, once you've summited, you'll see it's well worth the trip!

It keeps getting better from there though. Afterwards we will head to a local winery that makes some of the best wines in Pennsylvania. You will be able to taste a bunch of their wines and find out for yourself.

After tasting, pick your favorite and buy a glass or buy a bottle because they have a blues concert going on in the barn to celebrate the coming of the harvest. (If you buy a glass or a bottle, they will waive the tasting fee).

Clothing and Equipment: Hiking boots, sun block, raingear, water bottle.

Hi! I have room for 3. So if you and Kara want rides, I have room for one more. We'll have to figure out a common meeting point.

all, there will be a carpool accessible via public transit in the Philly area. Kat, we don't guarantee rides, but folks are usually willing to help out those without cars. we send the location to paid members a few days in advance to leave time for scheduling. you can also work out carpool details with people here on this page, or by emailing people who've said they're going. ginger, the start time usually means when we start hiking. thanks!

does 9am mean the carpool starts at 9am or we start hiking at 9am? big difference, not sure i can go if too hot outside.

Hi, I am interested in coming, but I've never done been to an event before. How does carpooling work? I'm in center city and I don't have a car, so I just wanted to ask about transportation before signing up. Thanks!
