NYC Street Photography & Exhibit at the International Center of Photography

  • Apr 27, 2013 · 9:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

We will be meeting no later than 10am at the Trenton Rail Station (not the WEST Trenton Rail Station), our train departs @ 10:26 for NYC.  there is plenty of parking available at the Trenton station , and it is also accessible via SEPTA.  We will then ride up to NYC, where we will be attending a photo exhibit showcasing the work of Roman Vishniac.

Mr. Vishniac was a versatile photographer, an accomplished biologist, an art collector and teacher of art history. He won international acclaim for his photos of shtetlach and Jewish ghettos, celebrity portraits, and microscopic biology. His book A Vanished World, published in 1983, made him famous and is one of the most detailed pictorial documentations of Jewish culture in Eastern Europe in the 1930s.  Vishniac was also remembered for his humanism and respect for life, sentiments that can be seen in all aspects of his work.

Here is a link with more information on the exhibit...

After the exhibit, we will head out onto the streets of New York to do some shooting, then we can all have dinner in the village, before re-boarding the train back to Philly.

This will be a paid event, $50 a head covers the cost of transport to and from Trenton and admission to the exhibit.

Did I read an email about a smaller bus leaving from the clothes place where we used to meet?

Yes Jewell, I will be picking up all interested parties up at the Career Wardrobe (21 S. 12th Street) on Saturday morning. Anyone who is interested needs to be there by 9am.

Thanks for the update! For those taking Septa to the Trenton Rail Station, here's a link to the Saturday Schedule: http://www.septa.org/schedules/rail/s/TRE_0.html. Ugh! I knew I should have taken PPL's "Documentary Photo Walk-Tutoring from the T's" with Theresa and Tony!

I only learned of ICP this past year, and have been wanting to visit! From viewing the past exhibits on the website, ICP may end up being on my summer to-do lists a couple of times! Can't wait!

Sounds like such a fun outing and would love to attend, but I have a conflict as the 2013 PIFA Street Fair is the same day. :-(
