If art isn't your full time profession, than what is? What other activities and/or hobbies do you enjoy?

I'm a student still. I studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for three years, and am now working towards a BFA in creative writing at Goddard College. I also love cooking, watching TV and cuddling with my dog.

We are curious as to each persons definition of "What is art". In a few words, give me your definition of what art is to you. Our definition of art is "a spirit of creativity that flows from mind to hand".

Oh jeez. It's the eternal question, isn't it? My answer varies from day to day. I tend to side with Nabokov, who said "“For me, a work of [art] exists only insofar as it affords me what I shall bluntly call aesthetic bliss, that is a sense of being somehow, somewhere, connected with other states of being where art (curiosity, tenderness, kindness, ecstasy) is the norm.” And also George Saunders, who says that what art (specifically fictional writing) can do is "inspire tenderness." So I suppose I would say that to me, art is a creative process that achieves those ends.

How long have you been working as an artist? Would you be interested in helping plan events for this group?

I don't really know how to answer this question either. I've been making art my whole life. Would art school count as a starting point? In which case, five years I suppose.

What do you hope to learn and share as a group member? What are your future goals? What is your current age?

I'm just looking to meet other creative people. I think surrounding yourself with creative thinkers is imperative. My future goals are to be happy. But more specifically, I can envision myself as an editor, a high school English teacher, or a widely acclaimed, extravagantly rich painter and author.

What kind of art do you do or make? Do you need help with beginnng or finishing a project?

Visual art wise, I do a lot of watercoloring. I dabble in bookmaking, but more as a context for painting than as a craft in and of itself. Sculpture, too, usually with found materials. I'd like to work sculpturally more often, but I just don't have the space. Right now, though, I'm focusing on my writing. I write fiction, primarily short stories.

Hi there. I'm Kori. I'm a fiction writer and visual artist. I've noticed lately that my life has become increasingly dull and unpeopled. I'm trying to make it less so.
