I get a lot of mileage out of knowing how to clamp things safely and effectively.
My hammer. I use it to drive nails, remove nails, chisel wood, and forge metal, with finesse and power.
Recently I've been building a lot of utility furniture; I'd like to get back to more complex woodworking, but have no shop access or serious plans yet. I want to solidify my web programming knowledge, probably by writing a portfolio webpage. I'm in the middle of an environmental sensoring project, destined for a local elementary science class. At the Hacktory, I teach classes (Sensors, Circuits, Soldering) and help organize events, and I'm working on sprucing up the webpage and adding open-licensed class materials so hackers everywhere can learn more.
I'm a science educator with a physics background, who recently moved to Philadelphia and started volunteering at The Hacktory. I mostly build in wood and metal, but I know a bit about circuits and programming too.
