Hey beginners---another jam just for you! New guitarist? No worries.

We are holding another beginner focused jam at my house in South Philadelphia.

These jams provide newer players an opportunity to play in a smaller, more intimate group so if you’ve been hesitant to come to the larger jams at Goji’s or just want a chance to play only with other beginners, this is the jam for you.

We focus on accessible material and take our time to work through songs in a more relaxed manner than the usual jam.

We will use some of the usual songs from the larger group’s set list as our starting point. We may have some group listening and playing exercises this time as well. Feel free to post suggestions.

We’ll also have time for anyone who wants to bring a tune they’ve been working through.

We ask that everyone stick primarily to guitars so things don’t get too complicated (although singers are definitely welcome, as are Mel and his harmonicas). Since South Philly means row houses and shared walls this one must remain acoustic only.

Space forces me to limit this one to 8-10 people. More advanced players---please give beginners an opportunity to sign up first.

Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Thanks---hope to see you on Saturday!

I was playing Babylon by David Gray. Maybe we could play this song at some point, not sure how familiar everyone is with this song. Simple chords, mostly just D, G. Chorus is D, A, EM, G. I'll try to upload a file if I get a chance today or maybe we could play it next Saturday! Threw a capo on the 3rd fret!

<insert usual note apologizing about insane parking situation in South Philly>
For those who weren't here last time -look for the blue Christmas tree on our porch- 17th is a southbound one way street-we are about halfway down the block on the left once you pass Jackson

Have a great session! I added an easy song to Files, which you might like to try. It's not seasonal, but definitely timely.
    See you all next year.

During our only holiday tradition of watching the double feature of It's a Wonderful Life and Love Actually I was reminded of Love is All Around by The Troggs (anyone who's seen Love Actually will remember the little Christmas earworm version of it that runs through the film). Scoff if you care to.
I posted it in the files section with a link to a lovely REM version in case anyone is interested. Nice simple chords and a pleasant tune.
I may put a couple more up before tomorrow as well.

The file was a .zip file. I uploaded a pdf version in the same key.

I also threw a little John Denver up there in both G and A. There is one barre chord in the A version.

Also, if anyone needs directions for tomorrow or anything else, please feel free to email me directly.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone, as is Josey, our only social feline (the other two are already hiding in anticipation).

Darn, wish I could make it, but I'm best man in my brother's wedding that day. It's a fairly firm commitment...

I guess skipping that might create some family friction. We are hoping to make these a fairly regular thing so hopefully you can make the next one.

Can't wait! Barring snow, should be hassle free to get there.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
