Dear Fellow Members of iServePhilly,
By now, you have all heard about the devastating tragedy that was suffered in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012. Twenty children and six teachers were senselessly murdered in a place that would have otherwise been considered one of the safest to schools. That morning 26 families kissed their girlfriends, wives, children and friends goodbye, not knowing it would be for the last time.
Though this story has been highly publicized throughout the media reaching as far as the President Obama, I feel that it is our duty as fellow Americans to reach out to the families of these unfortunate victims and let them know that we are with them during their struggle. How can you be a part of this, you ask? Well, my mission is to gather enough donations to put towards purchasing 2 Giant size posters that will be placed in Center City for our fellow Philadelphians to sign as well as Cards of Hope. These posters and cards will then be shipped to the residents of Newtown so they can see that just because their heart wrenching story is no longer across the front page of every newspaper and magazine, that they are not at all forgotten and very much so still in our thoughts and prayers.
Also, this project will serve as the first of many of a new campaign called “26 acts of Kindness” in which each month 2 causes will be chosen for various fund raisers and other services to be performed in support of it. I wish to thank you all in advance for your time and efforts to make our mission of reaching out to those less fortunate than ourselves possible.
