New Event: A not-so-lively Ghost Tour and grim Eulogy

From: user 3.
Sent on: Tuesday, October 23, 2007, 11:31 PM
Announcing a new event for The Philadelphia Dining Out Meetup Group!

What: A not-so-lively Ghost Tour and grim Eulogy

When: Tuesday, October 30, 7:00 PM

Event fee: USD16.00 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: Good mourning.

Come. Gather around. All Hallow's Eve is nigh, my friends.

Those who have walked before us will soon walk among us. Chances are you won't see them or hear them. But even the most skeptical will doubt their deepest truths. Yes. You'll begin to believe ...

You'll wonder if the footsteps behind you belong to a living soul ... whether the rustling in the trees is simply the lonely Autumn wind ... whether the fog is alive ... and whether something in the silent blackness is watching you.

But don't be afraid. You're just getting together with some friends for chilling tales and warm spirits ... until after the party.

Who will protect you then, when the haunting darkness calls for you?

THE PLAN:

1.
The Philadelphia Ghost Tour (meet between 7:00-7:15pm) -- You MUST call[masked] to reserve your ticket in advance ... even if you purchase at the hotel or visitor's center.

We'll MEET BETWEEN 7 AND 7:15pm AT:
Signers Garden
5th & Chestnut Streets

(See more information below.)

2.
BRING A GHOST STORY of your own (made up or true ... from memory or from paper) and be prepared to tell the tale at...

3.
Eulogy Belgian Tavern at ~9:15pm -- I know it's putting the hearse before the horse to have the event before the meal, but our friends of the tour were dying to show us around Philly's haunts on the earlier side of the evening. (They have more dire things to get to closer to the witching hour.)

The tour costs $15 and again ... YOU MUST RESERVE YOUR TICKET IN ADVANCE by calling[masked].

After you've reserved your ticket by phone, you can PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS IN THREE WAYS:

1 -- Via the website: http://www.ghosttour.com/Philadelphia.htm.
2 -- At the Gift Shop next to Omni Hotel, 401 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, until tour time.
3 -- At the Independence Visitor Center, 6th & Market Streets, until 5:00 pm.

TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED BEFORE YOU ARRIVE AT SIGNERS GARDEN FOR THE TOUR.

A FINAL NOTE:

RSVPing IS FOR THE DINNER ONLY. You're welcome to join us for the tour regardless of whether or not you can attend dinner. Likewise, PLEASE RSVP "NO" IF YOU'LL ONLY BE COMING FOR THE TOUR (NOT DINNER).

Also, the dinner will probably fill up fast. So if you'd like to attend, but the event is full, reserve your ticket for the Ghost Tour anyway.

This way, if spots open up for the dinner in the last day or two before the event (and they almost always do), you can jump in, RSVP "yes" and join us for the dinner and the tour. Conversely, if the dinner is completely full RSVP-wise, you can still join us for just the tour.

*******

QUICK NOTE about RSVPing:

PLEASE ONLY RSVP "YES," IF YOU ARE COMMITTED TO ATTENDING THE DINNER.

Please use the "MAYBE" option, if:

1. You're unsure of whether or not you can make the dinner; or
2. You're not totally committed to coming. (You can always change it later.)

IF YOU RSVP "MAYBE," please confirm "YES" or "NO" as soon as possible because events fill up quickly.

In order to accommodate members who want to attend the event (but didn't get to RSVP as quickly), RSVPs still listed as "MAYBE" two days before the event will automatically default to "NO" to make room for other potential attendees.

By the same token, the site will not accept "MAYBE" RSVPs within the two days prior to the event.

*******

THE DETAILS

Usual rules apply...

Three quick things you need to know:
1) Make sure you RSVP right away since our reservation is limited to 15 people.
2) To help defray the costs of the website, $1 will be added to your bill at the restaurant. Small price to pay for great food and great company!
3) If you happen to arrive at the restaurant before I do, the reservation is in my name (Charles).

RSVP & Waitlisting
One final note ... Please stay true to your RSVP. If you don't think you can make it make it, please change your RSVP, so others can join in the fun. (Likewise, if you want to participate in the event, but it's already filled up; RSVP "NO" and put "Waitlist me" in the response section. I'll contact you if any spaces open up.)
