Pieces of the whole (our members share about themselves) & a thinking game

Place:
Our meeting place for this event is at the Beaverton Community Center.  It is across the street from the Beaverton Library.  They have two rooms, and we are meeting in the smaller room called "The Vose Room."  There is a parking lot for the building.  See above for the address and Google map link.  Here's a shorter URL link: http://tinyurl.com/a4aqvse .

Note: There is a door on the side of the building (not the front door).  Be sure to come to the side door so we can see you and let you in.

Topic (1 of 2, 1 hr.):
"EMOTIONS:  ELEMENTS OF THE NATURAL WORLD"
Presenter: Dawn, one of our members

Discussion from her personal point of view of the role emotions can play in our lives, using emotions as a valid source of information,  & how we might “stay tuned to stay balanced”.

Topic (2 of 2, 1 hr.):

We will play the game "Propaganda" as a group game.  The game is fun and teaches some critical thinking skills.  We will have some small teams, and each team picks which logical fallacy or rhetorical trick is used in a saying.  There's a way to keep score and see who wins.  I played it a little last Sunday with a small group (as a test), and people enjoyed it.  It sparked some interesting discussions.  (And this is group play, so you don't have to worry about looking dumb if you don't know the answers  ;-)

Facebook Update:
We now have a secret Facebook community page for our group.  Anyone can join it, if you've attended at least one meeting in real life.  To get invited to the secret Facebook group, send an email to [masked] with your Facebook account name.

The secret Facebook page is great for building a community, and you don't have to worry about friends and family seeing any of your posts.
