What do you think "Philosophical Naturalism" is?

The term is somewhat of an oxymoron since any religious faith at all--belief in an orderly universe, cosmic justice or beauty, natural symmetry--imposes a "supernatural" reality onto the facts that isn't intrinsic but is rather based unavoidably on our real human needs. So the real questions revolve around how we choose what sort of faith truly meets those needs without conflicting with our best picture of truth in the phenomenal world. Rather than arguing about structural issues like "What is God, if there is one?" or "Is there an after-life?" I personally prefer to discuss more approachable and dynamic topics such as how to fashion a rewarding spiritual life and philosophy, or what to do if things inner and outer seem to be not working out well for oneself and others. Through my Quaker background, and my own research I have found some useful answers. But I am immensely curious and excited about reports of others' investigations and personal conclusions in this field.

Introduction

A Quaker (member of the Religious Society of Friends) since childhood, I have been exploring philosophical issues and religion since my major in that field in college. Coming to terms with these questions is a vital part of any quality education.
