I've considered myself an atheist since I was 14. I've always felt a deep connection to the natural world and that connection is how I express my spirituality.
I believe that spiritual feelings arise from the structure of the human mind. I think they are natural feelings that we should express and enjoy. Unfortunately I find it hard to make room for this in my adult life. I also think that choosing not to believe in a divine being puts more responsibility on us as individuals to think about and create our own morality. It's a harder road in many ways, but the non-believers I know always have a deep and well-considered morality. I think that may be the greatest gift of being a non-believer.
