At each seminar, we discuss a short philosophical text, or tackle a philosophical question. This month's text is Epicurus's Letter to Menoeceus. The text is available here:
We want to keep these events reasonably small, so that we can keep the discussion focused, and so that everyone can participate. Please book your place by using the RSVP button. If you book and then find that you cannot make it, please cancel your booking, so that someone else can take your place.
We use the ground floor foyer of the National Theatre. We will try to be at the tables at the end furthest from Waterloo Bridge, and on the side that is furthest away from the river side of the building. If you need to ask the staff for directions, you could ask for the Shakespeare Memorial Plaque, or for the place where the Lyttleton Cloakroom used to be. (It has disappeared as part of the building works.) But we may have to be somewhere else in the foyer. We will have a notice on the table saying "Philosophy for All", but we might not be there until a few minutes before our start time of 7.45. So if you get there earlier and cannot find us, please have another wander round the foyer at 7.40 to find us. If you cannot find us anywhere on the ground floor, try the next floor up where there is a bar area, but we will only move there is there is a problem with the ground floor.
This seminar will be conducted by Anja Steinbauer.
