Cultural Salon: Living the Dream? How we can build the perfect life

"Life is really simple but we insist on making it complicated."Confucius.

If what Confucius wrote is true, then what are the basic building blocks of a good life? Can values such as beauty, truth and moral goodness guarantee that our lives are going to be meaningful or even happy? PM Gallery hosts an exhibition of Alvar Aalto, the modernist architect who strived to create an ideal for living and working, through buildings that satisfied our aesthetic and functional needs.  Come and discuss life and its values with philosophers, psychologists, musicians, artists and other experts.

There is a door charge of £5, unless you are a paid up member of Philosophy For All (pls see www.pfalondon.org), in which case it's only £3.

I am extremely sorry but I have injured my back and might not be able to make it tomorrow. I am so very sorry about that. :-(

Why is it that the style required in academic work from undergraduates in philosophy degrees is very different from that of the philosophers they write about? e.g Although the Tractatus is full of logical symbolism, and set out like a deductuve system, Wittgenstein doesn't use logic for inference in developing this "system". He also rarely cites references. Undergraduate would really be for it if they were to make such omissions.

Should I be booking my place with adult learning, even if I RSVP as Yes?

Yes, please. People will hear about the event by other routes too. In particular, Ealing Adult Learning have advertised it to people on their list. They would like everyone to book through them, so that they can see how many people there will be.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
