I'd love to learn more about this (if we can find the right 'teacher'): http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/structural-realism

This is the best intro article I've found (if you have a Scientific American subscription): http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/physicists-debate-whether-world-made-of-particles-fields-or-something-else

And this is 'the' book on Ontic Structural Realism: http://www.amazon.com/Every-Thing-Must-Metaphysics-Naturalized/dp/0199573093

    Hello all,
I had to change the date - it is now Saturday August 9th (will be out of town till then). Sorry if this causes any inconvenience. I have found this article to be a very helpful source if you'd like to get some background before the meetup: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/structural-realism/#OntStrReaOSR

    Hope to see you then!

In the meantime, I have been reading and thinking about the intersection between OSR and Eastern philosophy. For an extra credit assignment for a Symbolic Logic class I just took at Hunter, our teacher asked us to write about what we'd like to change about SL or PL (two symbolic logic systems) if we could. Here's my reply; I thought you might be interested to read it, as it reflects my views on how OSR and Eastern philosophy are expressing similar views:

As far as getting a speaker, I was thinking that different members could present on a subset of the material. ..

Hey, I suggested Saturday May 31st as a date, if that seems sub-optimal though we can always change it. Are people good with that date?

The original paper which introduced Structural Realism is by John Worrall. Here it is:

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
