Quantified Self Phoenix/Scottsdale Dec 12th Meetup!

Hello QS Phoenix/Scottsdale!

Bring your Quantified Self projects to show & tell Wednesday, December 12th at the Arizona Biomedial Collaborative Building 1, Room 230.  Meeting will start at 6:00 PM for 1.5 hours and we can hangout until 8:00PM at then go to our favorite Beer hub around the corner!  Here is our plan for the meeting:

  • We will provide a QS sign-up sheet for each meeting's Show & Tell of a presenter’s self-tracking project/self-tracking tools.
  • Meeting will be about an 1.5 hours.
  • Open meetings with an easy 10 minutes or so to talk about “news” of QS would be good – what is happening, any conferences, ideas/issues, etc.  This would be a latest news overview to get thing started.  (We could watch what others are doing – in video clips online for example.)
  • Presenters will have 10 minutes to Show & Tell with 5 minutes for Q&A.  (Q&A is the most fun part!)  (But this would depend on how many presenters are at a meeting, etc. For example, we might not have one – in which case it would be a know-as-you-go experience to discuss whatever we want about QS. Steering a little away from supposition and toward practicability, but some theory is good of course! :-)

Your suggestions are always welcome in our collaborative QS Group!

I'd be very interested in exchanging knowledge about open tools and/or standards that make it easier to collect one's own personal and/or elder-care data and convey it in creative, beneficial ways.

What I've done is so far some pretty narrowly focused Python code, for example: using numpy and matplotlib to find and communicate the messages in a loved one's glucose & A1c numbers, also monitoring med compliance (and with the same camera making sure he didn't forget to turn his stove off ;-). I can't attend on Saturdays, but hope there will be another chance to talk shop.

Hi, Lionel. It turns out that my class was rescheduled so Natasha and I can both meet on Wednesdays. I hope you will sign up to discuss what you've been working on during our next meetup in February.

    Hi all,
A group of us from ASU are curious for another MeetUp. Erica, Kathy, and I are proud to participate in the launching of a breath-analysis device, which is materializing during this month of January, 2013. Will launch website and crowd-funding soon.

Add'ly, Cozmo might have some more info from diabetes work. He and a buddy of mine had High Intensity Intermittent Training on their minds recently...Sprint!

Lastly, I am curious to share in small groups, followed by presentation?, our quantification data base setups (spreadsheet, e.g.) coupled to our analysis techniques. (What does it mean to have a decade of glucose metering results without some way of analyzing it and concluding a) everything is going well or b) something needs to change).

Really good discussion. Might have been better had more people shown up (we really shrunk down from last month). The upside was a focused discussion.

Not sure why the location didn't appear in the Meetup Announcement - but it is at Arizona Biomedical Collaborative Building 1, room 230! (corner of Van Buren and 5th St.)
