  • Hey all,

I have a reservation for 15 for a 1-hour sunset trail ride at MacDonald's Ranch (http://www.macdonaldsranch.com/).  I will change the number in the reservation 24 hours before when I have a better idea after all the drops/adds.

The price of this horseback ride is $45 per person, plus taxes and 15% mandatory gratuity for a group our size.  I'm rounding that up to $60 per person.  Anything left over will be returned to you (including a discount for paying in cash...that is what I'm shooting for).

Because of this business's cancellation policy (24 hours or we'll be charged anyways) and that I've put up my credit card to make the reservation, I'm going to require that payment in full needs to be received 48 hours before the event.  Anyone not paid up 2 days before will be removed from the RSVP list.  Because of their cancellation policy and risk of being charged, we need to make sure you are committed to this event.  We can't have any no-shows.  Also, I was told there would be a discount for paying in cash.  If everybody pays ahead of time and I can pay in cash after the ride, we'll get that discount and that money will be coming back to you.

I decided to not do a combined trail ride and dinner because the price seemed kinda high ($91 before tax and included gratuity) and I thought we'd loose some people, so I scheduled dinner and drinks as a separate event just a few miles away at Greasewood Flat  (http://www.meetup.com/Phoenix-Shy-Guys-And-Girls-Club/events/145864162/) to help save some money.

Please contact me in order to get paid up.  Call or text (602)[masked], Email [masked], or send PayPal payments to [masked].  I think most banks will to a person-to-person payment/transfer or "mail a check" for free.  PayPal will do payments for free if it is coming directly from a bank account...if debit/credit cards are used, there will be an extra charge.

I have the start time set to 3:45 pm, but there is a few minutes leeway for those that are chronically late (me) or navigationaly challenged, but I'm not gonna tell you how much.  :-D

I hope to see you all there,

    Conan

    Hey all,

Just a reminder that horseback riding is 6 days away...and because of the ranch's cancellation policy (and the fact that I put up my credit card to make the reservation), I need everyone's financial commitment ahead of time (we can not have any no-shows).

I've set the deadline to be paid up at 4:00 pm on Thursday. If you have not paid by then, you'll be removed from the RSVP list. Please update your RSVP if you can't make it.

Please contact me in order to get paid up.

If you send money through PayPal, there is no charge if it is coming directly from a bank account. If it is coming from a credit/debit card, there is a small fee (there should be enough cushion to absorb that fee. If not, the difference should be negligible).

The price is $45/person, plus tax, plus 15% included gratuity (required for a group our size), rounding up to $60/person to make sure all bases are covered.

I've been told we will receive a 15% discount if we pay in cash...essentially cancelling out gratuity. I am planning on paying in cash (another reason I need people to pay in advance). Any unused amount will be returned to you.

      See you all Saturday!!!

Marlene, how far away from this place are you? Can you come straight from work or would you need to stop @ home first? Depending, it might be a tight squeeze but possible.

I'm not going to the ride, only greasewood. I'll be there at the time listed for it, 6pm.

Changing my RSVP - not in the budget and I've already gone horse back riding this year - gotta save the next bit of money for skiing! ;)

I love horses! I think they're majestic beautiful creatures, haha, girly moment... I think they're very fun to ride as well, I was going to offer my help because I'm from the Carefree/Cave Creek area and I see ranches and rides all the time -- but looks like you're good! "I've found a couple places in North Scottsdale and Cave Creek." Thank you for organizing this Conan!

Sharamie, Thank you so much for the research and the link.

I came across that place when I first looked into doing this. I'm definitely leaning towards this place because of my location. Unless we get a really good deal somewhere else, or someone else has a suggestion that is really popular, this might end up where we go.

Any other suggestions from anyone else?

Hey all, I added a question to the RSVP. For those that are already a "yes", give me an idea of your experience/comfort level with horses (so I know what to tell the ranch if it comes up). This may affect our plans (start time to accommodate for instructions).

@Brian, the hardest part is getting up on the horse. Once your up, you are just sitting there, nudging it with your feet every now and then...nothing to it.

It'll be especially hard for you. They might have to pull out a step stool for you...or maybe they'll have a pony!!!
