Had a really good time and met some nice people. The Poker Paddle was a blast and they had some nice prizes. This is a particularly good way for beginners to try out Kayaks and other water equipment before making a major purpose.

The weather was perfect, there was a good crowd and lots of events. I appreciated the free water and pop. My main complaint, same as last year, is that it's difficult to tell which yaks are demos and which are privately owned. I suggest an area set aside for demo yaks and vendors only. It was also difficult to tell which yaks went with which vendors, the vendors canopies should be right by their yaks and have signage. I couldn't always tell whether the canopies were vendors or private. I only got to demo 2 yaks and would have liked to try a few more. I guess it helps if you're a girl in a bikini, they always seemed to get the attention of the vendors ( unlike me, a 69 year old male).

Does anyone/ any of you have interest in "carpooling" I see several signed up are in Phoenix. And a couple people in (S) East Valley. I am not bringing a kayak. I'll be coming from Chandler (Warner & Cooper). Email me or post a Comment if interested in picking a meeting place & time. THANKS!

I'll be coming down from Flagstaff. I thought that I might camp at Lake Pleasant, just so I'm already there and good to go at 8am. Is anyone else going to be camping?

Hi Marielle ~ They will have demos you can try out, but if you want to paddle extensively you'll need to rent or have one. Check out Craig's list or ebay first to hunt for a deal. If your new to paddling, you may want to play in the demos, and determine just what kind of waters you want to paddle. This will determine what kind of boat to get. Choices are many! It'd be a bummer if you got a sit on top, then realized you wanted to roll or do whitewater . . . . Looking forward to meeting you.
