Izakaya/Happy Hour at Roka Akor in Scottsdale

From Wikipedia: an izakaya (居酒屋?) is a type of Japanese drinking establishment which also serves food to accompany the drinks. Izakaya food is usually more substantial than tapas or mezze. Many items are designed to be shared. The name "izakaya" is a compound word consisting of "i" (to sit) and "sakaya" (sake shop), showing that izakaya originate from sake shops that allowed customers to sit at the premises to drink.

Note that while we are going during Happy Hour which features an izakaya menu, Roka Akor is not merely an izakaya. It is a fine dining restaurant specializing in sushi and robata grill which also features a shochu lounge. The restaurant offers Tuesday tastings (complimentary wine or sake), a kaiseki menu that changes monthly, an omakase menu (chef's choice), a Sushi Master Class (I have taken it and it was great), and on and on. You can check out the full menu at www.rokaakor.com. Awesome group and awesome food! As usual, Roka Akor rocked with its delicious sushi and robata grill. I tried some new things: the roast duck with kimchi udon, the blackened cod, and the softshell crab sandwich and all were delicious! My standards - the butterfish tataki and hamachi chili roll - were great as well. If you were not able to make it, I encourage you to stop by Roka Akor and try the cuisine. You won't be disappointed! Oh, and the company was fabulous too. We had a great group of fun folks. I am looking forward to meeting up with all of you again.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
