Photo App Meetup SF - Realtime Photo and Video effects toolkits

Happy New Year everyone. For our first meetup of 2014, we'll be focusing on effects. We'll hear from several people leveraging open source effects libraries to create real-time video and photo effects in their apps.

Louis Tran will talk about how he leveraged the GPUImage library to make his "Take 1" iOS app do live recording of video with a hand drawn look. Dana Shakiba, creator of the app Polamatic (featured on TechCrunch this week)  will discuss GPUImage vs CoreImage. Rolf Rando of ImageChef will talk about his experience customizing GPU filters for ImageChef's apps. We also expect contributions from RadiumOne engineers, and others are invited to contribute.

As usual we'll have drinks and pizza by sponsor Radium One.

If you're a full-stack developer with an interest in photography, and you are interested in becoming an equity partner in a company that will change the world as we SEE it, we should talk.

PhotoByte is an e-commerce platform that works best for photo buyers because it works for photographers too, providing workflow management, innovative pricing technology, and copyright protection. PhotoByte is the first company to monetize the Photo Assignment segment, in addition to Stock Photo. It's a new way for photographers to upload and sell their pictures online that self-selects for only the best, then predicts the images individual buyers will want and what they will pay. We are the better Getty Images.

    • The market is $8 billion.
    • The stock photo & video library is stale
    • The market is underserved.
    • Photographers (& videographers) have lost control over pricing their own work.
    • Consequently, the best proponents decline to participate in the market.

Thank you, Maxime. Are you interested in learning some more about PhotoByte, perhaps to offer some advice about how and where to find someone like this; presuming you're very happy at RadiumOne.

Really enjoyed my first SF meetup, on a topic near and dear to me. Very cool presentations, super informative and nice atmosphere for questions and answers. Looking forward to socializing with you all, and perhaps finding some collaborators. More on that later! Until next time...
