I think this would be a great place to get out of the norm. I attended this event a few years ago and its a great little town with a lot of potential shooting areas.

This meetup should not be intended just for photographers. Models should be encouraged to attend. This event brings quite a few photographers from other areas of Texas and would be a great place to network and add a little experience with your modeling.
On Sunday, Oct. 14, Smithville will be transformed into themed vignettes with including a life size western town, horses and cowboys, a drumline, historic buildings, tours and more. Plenty of models around. And heck, just grab an attendee or two and ask for that shot you want. Photographic opportunities will be varied and fun.
Classes, an Instagram Photo Walk, a "Fan Favorite" Model Contest, a Photo Contest, a runway fashion show "Fashion Fest 2012", theSoiled Doves of Austin and Sherwood Forest inhabitants, and on-site sponsors will provide opportunities for professional and amateur photographers to build their portfolios, learn additional skills, and have photographic fun.
Register for free on Sunday at the edge of the "photo zone". It will be easily marked for you to see. Everything inside is open for snappin'.
At 5:30 p.m., learn how to do "transparent" photos with this ghostly shoot.
The event continues with a happy hour until 7 p.m.
Enter the free photo contest sponsored by The Smithville Times for registered participants to cap the day with categories for all age groups. Nikon U.S.A has provided a Nikon D3200 camera kit for our top prize in the 14 and over age category of the Photo Contest - value approx. $1,000.00.
Again, it's all free and it's all fun.
