Get the lowdown on modern wedding photography from Ken Carl, a previous winner of the Bella Pictures National Wedding Photographer of the Year award. Carl will share how he prepares and shoots a documentary-style wedding. He’ll also give advice on working in the freelance studio system, key equipment, proven techniques, efficient workflow and creating wedding albums.

“Becoming a photographer of weddings does not mean you are exclusively a ‘wedding photographer.’ The world of digital photography is maturing while evolving, thus creating new opportunities for photographers,” explains Carl. “The industry of wedding photography is adjusting to the effects of national studios such as Bella Pictures, aggressive regional studios, inconsistent quality of freelance photographers, and ever changing client expectations."

“As a photographer establishing an identity, creating a good reputation is a constant work in progress. A freelance photographer of weddings often works for several studios: it is a personal challenge to have a distinctive style that is recognized beyond the ‘photographer’ from XYZ studio. Maintaining pride, quality in craft and personal relationships is paramount. In this challenging market and changing times, quality with integrity is more valuable then ever.”

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
