Picasso created timeless masterpieces with nothing more than a stub of charcoal. Contemporary masters of photography continue to create spectacular images with nothing but a pinhole for a lens. It isn't about how much you spend on equipment.

PhotoQuest101 Meetups help you master your machine in a fun social environment and shows you how to leap from the realm of 'snapshots' to magazine and museum quality photographs.

We shoot in public spaces and we'll occasionally venture into off-limits locations in stealth mode. We take photos of everything with some particular objectives for every outing. We shoot old rusting autos and weathered barns, mushrooms, flowers, public gatherings, parades and festivals.

We make excursions to the inner city and rural parks and trails. We discover out of the way places and learn to capture photos that make you want to take a second look. We learn to engage people to pose for spontaneous portraits and we have a great time in the process.

Your digital camera is a power tool; a computer that measures light 300x/second. It sends infrared to your subject and zooms the lens for perfect focus. It calculates f-stop, shutter speed, ISO, flash synch, and more faster than you can squeeze the trigger and get a perfect picture in 1/10,000 of a second.

Already a Master Photographer? Hop on board and share your favorite techniques in a workshop or other outing. We will meet in a variety of interesting and unusual locations in order to get the photos that everyone else missed. We will meet to share and discuss our digital images. We will have talks and discussions about equipment, accessories and in-camera and post-production techniques.

Are you a photojournalist, a portraitist, commercial, free-lance, amateur, professional or fine art photographer. Enjoy a series of Photo Quest Adventures learn some simple, but powerful techniques that you can use and make magic with your images to advance your photography in many ways.

    "I like it, especially the size of the shadow compared to the flower. I bet less emphasis on the flower and more on the shadow would (i.e. a tighter crop) would improve the impact."
