"Simple Lighting....Amazing Results!"
We are back this month with the first of what may become an added weekday studio Meetup once summer begins. Of course, we will still keep our weekend monthly Meetups but may alternate bi-weekly.
For this Meetup, we are presenting simple lighting schemes for the studio photographer and the speedlight shooter to get you up and running. We'll have two model and show how 1 or 2 light schemes can give you great results.
We will have looks ranging from fashionable club wear, pinup and summer beach wear.
Cost: $80 (Cash preferred - credit cards/paypal ok)
(Non-Commercial Release provided onsite or sent to email registered upon check-in.)
So happy to announce that returning to model for us is Gina Primavera. (One of the most requested models we've had.) She has been seen in Empire City, Royal Pains, Law and Order:SVU and various print ads. We are also happy to welcome model, Rachel Marie. (Maxim Hometown Hottie 2015 contestant.) They are cousins BTW! What great genes in that family!

About the Studio:
The studios is a beautiful 3,000 sq. ft., climate controlled, fully functional studio. (Professional in-house lights, props, various seamless backdrops, actual commercial photography sets, kitchen, waiting room, meeting/presentation room, the works!) It's conveniently located to major highways and a 20-30 minute public transportation ride to and from NY.
The Meetup Format:
We will keep the group small although we have the space to accommodate a big group. This keeps things from becoming a paparazzi shoot and from feeling rushed. Each photographer will have 3 minutes per look. This will allow you to shoot as you would in an actual client shoot. (This proved to be more than enough time in our last shoot.) After the group finishes shooting a model at a setup, model and photographers will rotate to different setups. (Applicable only with 3 models.) This will allow each group to have unique backgrounds and lighting setups with specific models. During the shoot we may opt to give a theme a direction to shoot for. As it would be for an actual client. (Ex: If the setup calls for a "cover shot" then it will give you a direction to aim for and to consider what equipment to use.) No worries, bring what lens or lenses you have, you'll learn to use what you have for best results.
Check-in Procedure and Disclaimers:
Check-in - When you arrive, there will be a quick check-in. This will mostly be so you can read and adhere to the studio/group shoot guidelines. This will also let us send you the release forms in PDF format if we don't have physical copies available.
Releases - We will have one non-commercial release signed by the model through the studio only. (No additional releases will be signed.) If you need a commercial release signed, you can make arrangements with the model directly. Additional compensation for this is between the model and photographer.
Right to Refuse - We have the right to refuse a member's RSVP to the Meetup. It's a small community and models keep detailed info on photographers also. If we feel there is justifiable reason to refuse a RSVP, we will exercise that right.
Signups - Please signup when you know you will attend. If the signup passes the point to book another model (max. 9 photographers with a 3rd model, 6 photographers for 2 models.) and then we get no shows it's not fair to your fellow photographers who would be on a waiting list. So, at the very least give us 3 days notice that you will not be able to attend or in case of no show, we will have to remove you from the group.
Updates - Updates will be made on this page up to the date of the Meetup or the night before. Emails will also be sent but Meetup emails are not always reliable to be sent to a receiver right away. (I've heard of emails arriving 3 hours later.)
Postponements - Weather considerations will be made the night before a shoot and the Meetup page will be updated as well as emails sent if a postponement occurs due to inclement weather. Lack of minimum RSVP to hold the event will also cause postponement of the shoot. The night before we would make the call wether to postpone so be on the look out for our email and Meetup page updates.
