Light, Composition, and manipulating them both a seminar presented by Mark Heaps.

Mark Heaps is one of our group members and has kindly agreed to do this photography seminar for our group. I approached Mark to do this only yesterday after viewing the amazing photos from his Cuba trip he posted on Flickr. Mark always provides a wonderful commentary to accompany his outstanding work.

Here is a link to Mark's Flickr Photostream

Mark Heaps snapped his first picture at the age of four. Then he picked up a guitar, a skateboard, and a can of spray paint, and kickflipped his way into the world of art. Today, he's a professional photographer, an Adobe Certified Professional, an Adobe Community Professional, and a Senior Art Director at Duarte Inc, where he's worked with some of the world's most recognized brands. He's a sucker for good tattoos, indie rock, and ketchup.

Mark currently snaps pictures in Austin, where he lives with his wife, daughter, son, two dogs, and a pantry full of ketchup.

Mark is a contributing author to many publishers and websites including PSDTuts, AdobePress, Peachpit and has lectured for Adobe's "Ask A Pro" series of webinars.

Hate to cancel at the last minute, but something came up. Someone can take my spot.

Due to limited space and parking this 2 PM session will be over at 3:30 PM.

    June 21, 2013

  • Allen R.

Please update your RSVP today if you cannot attend tomorrow, we have many members on the waiting list. Thanks.

For tomorrows event there is parking behind the APRO building. Enter parking lot off of Bonnie Rd. You may also park on Bonnie Rd and Robinhood Tr. Enter through the front door facing Robinhood Tr. There are a few parking spots in front of the building on Robinhood Tr. This is a small single story office building, looks more like a nice home.

I will have a check in sheet at the door. You must be on the "attending" list for your session (2 or 4:15) to be admitted. If you are on the "waiting" list, did not RSVP or showed up at the wrong session then I'm sorry but I can not admit you. We have very limited space and a smaller group will help this event to be as interactive a possible.

Please update your RSVP is you cannot attend.

For more opportunities to participate in a Mark Heaps workshop/seminar please see his new Meetup group. http://www.meetup.com/LifebyPixels/

When a spot opens up, Meetup will automatically email everyone on the waiting list, so keep an eye on your email. As soon as you see the email go to the Meetup event with the open spot, remember there are two events 2 PM and 4:15 PM, both the same presentation. Simply change your RSVP to yes if the spot is still available. Just posting "I want the spot" on the Meetup event does nothing. You have to change your RSVP yourself. We have limited this event to 20 participants plus 3 hosts. If you see 23 attending there are no spots available but keep checking this week as this is when others will start dropping out due to conflicts.

Is there any way that the spots that are open are immediately filed by the waiting list instead of us manually? For me it is really difficult to check my personal email during working hours. The waiting list is in the order that we registered I guess I think this would be better at least in my case

This sounds like a great seminar, would love to come. Are there any 4:15 places open?

    June 7, 2013

    • Allen R.

Nothing open now. We got an amazing response to this event and why not a free seminar by Mark, can't beat that! But keep an eye out the week before. People will drop out that week and Meetup will email a notification that a spot is open then it's first one to reply gets the spot.

      June 8, 2013

    • Sharon

Ok that sounds great. Will watch my emails and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for update.

Hi all. I WAS on the waiting list but seem to be missing--ma not even on the not attending list! I tried to respond to yesterday's email about a spot that opened up yesterday--did I erase myself?

    June 4, 2013

    • Allen R.

Jan, There are two sessions. You are on the waiting list for the 4:15 PM session. You may add yourself to the 2 PM session waiting list if you like.

If you are one of the 5 still on the waiting list for the 2 PM session you may add yourself to the 4:15 PM session. When a spot opens up you will receive and email from Meetup. First to respond gets the open spot.
