Christmas Lights Ho Ho Ho

Let's go shoot some Christmas lights at Zilker Park and the Austin Trail of Lights.

Since this is usually a huge event with lots of people all around I am creating multiple meeting spots.

At 6:00 PM I'll be at Chuy's on Barton Springs Road in the bar area getting some "Holiday Cheer".  Join me early if you like or pick one of our other regrouping points to meet up with us.  About 6:45 PM we will walk down to Zilker Park.

At 7:00 PM we will meet at the great Christmas Tree in Zilker Park on the south side of Barton Springs road.  We will get some shots of the Christmas Tree then move on to the Trail of Lights.

At 7:30 PM we will regroup across the street at the entrance to the Trail of Lights and walk the entire trail.

Around 9:00 PM we will head back to Chuys for more "Holiday Cheer"!

Meetup and join us at any point or if you can't make it that night post your Trail of Light pictures from another night.

Some fun things to try would be to shoot the lights out of focus, or try zooming in on the lights or turning your camera while the shutter is open.  Maybe get a picture of a friend or another photographer with camera slow sync or with your subject in focus and the lights in the background out of focus.

More information on the Trail of Lights

NOTE: Since this is an outdoor event it may be rescheduled due to adverse weather conditions, you know 20 degrees, freezing rain, snow, hurricane, tornado, etc. So our adverse weather night will be Friday 12/21.

Le sigh. TONS of photographs but I found nobody that night. I'll have some time in the next week to edit n post a few; but I'm thinking that I need a meetup where there's not so many other folks around... and we're not trying to sneak up on ducks :-) I wanna actually *meet* you folks.

I enjoyed meeting a few at Chuy's, but we lost the group at the tree. Agreed, it was a great idea! And now I want another where we get a little more togetherness!

We are in the Chuy's bar area but it's jammed. Wearing blinking Christmas lights. Sitting at table in back, may have to move outside.

I'm not sure if I'll be there or not, but I do want to let everyone know that Anderson High School is having an orchestra fundraiser by letting people park in their lot for $5 per car through Sat the 22nd. If you've got to pay to park, help support you local cellist.

Hello photographers, We are all set for tonight's shoot. I'm guessing everyone relealizes it will be a bit chilly tonight! Maybe the crowds won't be as bad as I've heard they have been the past few nights. I'll follow the schedule as published. The best place to meet us as a group will be Chuys at 6:00 PM in the bar area. We will leave Chuys no later than 6:45. At the Christmas tree look for me/us at the kettle korn trailer on the southwest side of the tree at 7:00 PM. I've heard there have been long lines at the main gate to get into the trail so it may be harder to find us there. We will head over to the main gate at 7:30. I hope everyone has a great time and I look forward to seeing everyones photos. Happy Holidays!
