Rodeo Austin

Afternoon and night shots of Rodeo Austin. Tried this last year, but it rained. I went and got some fantastic water shots. So once again, rain or shine. Meet at the Ferris Wheel at 5 pm.

If you get there early even better. There is allot to shoot. I made this for Thursday, so hopefully it isn't as crowded. I know when the Rodeo/Concerts start, the Midway empties. bring a tripod, long for exposures.

Even if you have never shot long exposure, try it, you will love it. Happy to give lessons, assistance, etc.

There is a gate fee and parking fee. If needed, we can meet elsewhere and car pool in....

Ask everyone to enter thru Gate 4, you should be able to park in Lot G10, if not then they should park in Lot G6 or G7.....someone will be there to direct parking. Everyone should meet at Lot G4...there is no parking there for the BBQ Cook-off, but it is next to the gate where everyone will enter. I will be there at that gate a little before 6p. You have my number. Thanks....

Parking...for those who would like to car pool to the paid parking. The best spot I could find, with easy access and away from the crowds was at 290 and hwy 35 at the Double Tree. Easy access on and off the freeway and more centrally located.

Contact each other to make arrangements. Strictly voluntary...I also for those just getting off of work, I changed the time to 6:00 pm to meet under the ferris wheel. This gives us a chance to catch other events, before capturing the rides and carnival area.

Is anyone going to go in and shoot the rodeo?

    March 12, 2013

    • Kris F.

hmm i was wondering about trying to get credentials to get better access to "wherever the heck" I want to shoot. I'm sure it's too late to try. Will it be easy to get close to the action if we wish?

      March 12, 2013

    • TA B.

You can try, but how I understand it, you can shoot from the stands, you just buy a rodeo ticket. They have their own photographers for the rodeo (the up close ones) each year. But never hurts to ask.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
