Street photography: People at Tate Britian "The Art of looking at Art"

Even though the guy moved and is blurry, I just like the way they are both looking at the boy's foot to see what he is kicking.

It almost looks as if he slipped on whatever the boy was carefully prodding with his foot :) Does anybody else have the feeling the carpet seems to pull your eye away from the centre? What was the boy kicking? I was so focused on people watching I didn't even notice...

This has a really nice feel to it Carol. At first I was a little worried by the longish exposure (It would be nice if the sculpture was crisp) But then I thought that is what makes it work. The old man has a lovely dynamic energy that matches that of the sculpture. Was he actually imitating the pose or just walking around the plinth? There is the usual comments I could make about how it would have been nice to have the sculpture fully framed by the white wall and all that kind of thing but its so easy to say things like that but if you had spent time framing it correctly, you might have missed the moment. And this shot is very much about that exact, split second. It is, having said that, always good to try to burn those compositional idea into your brain, hard wire them into your eyes, so they happen instantly, sub-consciously, so when a moment like this happens, everything else is just there already.

Yes, I know ... I was hoping I could get away without crispness by blaming the low quality of upload or something ... But it was by far the most interesting reaction I got all day. Now you mention it, maybe he is imitating the pose too ... If nothing else this assignment helped me realise just how difficult get that seemingly easy looking shot is! PS MK I did try cropping in a little closer but I actually liked the diagonal - could be leading the eye in as well as away, all depends on your point of view!
