Pigeons stress me out- this may be fear too. Sorry, but I found it very hard!

Perfect!!! It works very well for me.I find it funny at the same time, the pigeon looks like an angel suspended in the air...

Poor angelic pigeon, must have got scared himself! Its a really good shot as nothing is blurred or out of focus considering everything happened quite fast. You were quick to catch the action.

Hi Sharon. Sorry about the pub relocate mix up. Thinking about it now, I should have just waited at the first pub for any stragglers, I mean ultra keen photographers who were still in the field.

Its stressful being a Billy-no-Mates when all your friends have buggered off to a different pub! However, I did manage to console myself with a makeup purchase on the way home... :-) If we set up the whats app group thing than that may help too.

This is really good. Its a superb catch. I think its really difficult to catch moments like this that pass so quickly. But they both look so perfectly iconacally stressed that it really answers the brief. It would cover fear too but they are just different levels of the same thing. The bird is superb. He looks so confident in his effortless flight, like he's folded his wings up and smirking. Im guessing he's been moved from somewhere else judging by the anomalous artifacts surrounding his body (I've never written those words together before), but that doesnt bother me at all. I think its perfectly ok to move things to make s clear point and you need him exactly where he is to show us what they are afraid of.

I think in order to get rid of the grey line around the bird, the best way is to work at 100%. Paste a rough bird on a new layer and gently erase anything that isnt bird by hand, almost feather by feather. Then try blending the layer using the darker mode. It makes for a very natural effect. This is a really good shot Sharon.

Im looking at your pic on a bigger screen now and wondering if the line is caused by a sharpening technique and not a paste.... The guy's hat has it a bit too but less pronounced.

Thanks guys! When I looked at it later, the pigeon did look very freaky-like he is rising out of the ground; happy with his conquest of spooking the tourists.

Hi Pete. Thanks for your comments! I didn't move the bird- I don't know how to do that!- so what is seen is what was taken. I did use a LR preset to convert to B and W, so maybe that has caused something. I don't really sharpen very much. I think the artifacts surrouding him is his angelic glow...

Re the grey line, I see a little of what you mean, but I had to look hard. However, I have another picture (taken some months ago) that had something similar and no sharpening or preset was applied to it. Again, it was also surrounding a piegon. Its a bit weird and I don't know how to treat it or what caused it. Maybe I can show you the image sometime. PS is not my strong point at all! Thanks.

Hey. A: The bird actually being there just makes this even better then! :) B: Maybe there is some sharpening being applied in-camera that is causing this effect. If you are shooting raw and there is an auto-conversion going on, that might be doing it too. Its worth going through every part of the process and switching anything off that is sharpening, auto-correcting etc. If you are thinking about making money ever from your photos (and you should be) things like that will get an image rejected regardless of how good it is aesthetically.

I mean rejected by a picture library- not by people! :)

I think this photo is marvellous just as it is and quite surreal.

Thanks Pete- I will look at my settings on my camera tonight and see what is happening. Thanks too Peter for your comments :-)

I think its a brilliant photo too. This might sound like a diss but I mean it as a compliment - it looks like a bad B movie scene where some big dude (off screen) is dangling the pigeon at the end of a thread and the director is yelling at the cast, "Act scared" and they are trying but in a slightly too theatrical way.

Haha. Yes, their reactions are classical in that respect Jenny. Many thanks!

.......... and for me, the pigeon is no longer a pigeon having been transmogrified into a member of the cast. It's actually hilarious!

I absolutely love that pidgeon! It's just a plain bizarre bird. Although I am not sure these people are actually stressed because of the pidgeon, or if all three, bird, woman and weird baseball cap gup are actually freaking out because of something else. It's a bit of a Hitchcock moment.

Thanks Christine. The pigeon looks to be definitely acting here! He had actually just swarmed up to scare this couple- I sat there waiting for this to happen (to someone). It does look like a Hitchcock moment I agree!

I keep coming back to this to laugh at the haughty pigeon...

I don't have time to read everone else's comments before making my own Sharon so apologies is I repeat enything. Humour, action and above all stress! Excellent shot and perfect timing. There's something strange about the posture of the pigeon, I can't quite put my finger on it. Well done!

THanks David. Yes, the pigeon posturing is very odd!
