Potluck, Photos and FREE Jazz Concert - Friday 4/27 @ 5:30 PM

  • April 27, 2012 · 5:30 PM

Alright you jazz lovers, aspiring chef's... and .99 cent store shoppers, THIS event is for you! Cook it, buy it, bring it! We're doing a random potluck (whatever the heck you wanna bring). The concert is free, and includes a ton of great Jazz artists. Who remembers the John B. Williams poetry moment from the Arsenio Hall show? Give it up! woo woo woo woo wooo! lol.

How to find the group: I'll be wearing a black pinstrip dress shirt with my sleeves rolled up, and my signature pink bandana. I'm asking everyone to come to the event and wear something visibly RED...a red shirt/blouse, red jacket, red scarf, red ribbon in your hair, red tie, or red SOMETHING on the upper portion of your body so it's easier to spot a group of people wearing RED. Got it? We'll be in the middle to back rows.

Who's going: If you guys haven't figured it out by now, I organize as many free events for around 50 groups as I can. So you never know who's going to show. Come to the event and find out who's there. ;)

What to wear: DRESS WARM!! It'll be the day after the rain, so I'm expecting the temps to hit around mid 60's or so... and it might get breezy as well. Red jacket, red scarf, red gloves, red hat, red something or other that's visible to others.

Where: LACMA BP Grand Entrance aka #6 on this map

http://www.lacma.org/visit/campus-map

GPS: Los Angeles County Museum of Art
5905 Wilshire Boulevard
Los Angeles, California 90036
[masked]

When: 5:30 PM is when I'll be there to grab some middle to back row seats.

Parking: The LACMA structure highly advised, and if you're lucky there might be some street parking sometimes on surrounding streets. Please read the signs, and obey the parking laws/rules!!!

What to bring: Each of you needs to bring at least your own cup, plate, and eating utensils. You also need to bring at least one picnic food item as well... crackers, cheese, fruit, hummus, pita chips, cupcakes, twinkies, chocolate, dessert item, etc.

"Beverages": You can purchase wine from LACMA if you like. Drink responsibly if you do. I, nor the organizers of this group, nor Meetup are responsible if you abuse it.

Mojito's Q & A section:

1. Why are we getting there early?

You know, just because the world revolves around you doesn't mean it revolves around the rest of us. This event is free, so we're expecting about[masked] people, and seats will be at a premium. Get there early!

2. Can I wear a red thong?

You know, if you're a guy who can defy the laws of physics by cramming a 40" waist into a 32" thong, more power to you. I know what some of you are thinking, but please don't go there!!! Innocent children's eyes will be scarred for life! Wear a red t-shirt, dress shirt, blouse, jacket, sweater, gloves, scarf, headband, etc. instead. Thanks!!!

3. What if I can't find you because I came at 9pm?

Please see the response for question #1. This isn't "Club LACMA in the mix" on KIIS FM's techno hour! It's a Jazz concert... so don't be fashionably late.

4. LACMA is far from me. Why do we have to schlep all the way to Miracle Mile?

You know, I can easily get some people to show up in your backyard if you like. Do you have parking, a 3 prong power outlet for 56 speakers, and guacamole for 500 people? Maybe the people who come to the event at 9pm can be re-directed to your backyard? Just say'n!

5. In the tragic event I couldn't bring something to share for the potluck, what should I do?

Uhm, ever hear of shopping the day before? Please don't come to this event empty handed! No freeloaders allowed! Uhm, drive thru on the way there?...Buy a 20 piece chicken mc nugget from mickie d's if you have to. For $10 at the .99 cent store, you can get some snacks, a couple sodas or water, AND a few snickers bars. *snickering at you!*

HUGE thanks to those of you who linked up with the other groups and came out for a great afternoon and evening with us. :) Food was GREAT, and the company even better. Thanks again.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
