Photographic Art Club Monthly Meetup

This location is shown only to members

Finally getting around to updating the info about this meeting.

We had a great year with many activities and have charted a course for things to do in 2012. There will be a couple presentations to help on the learning side and one to share photography experiences. We have started the SJC Book project and are looking for everyone to submit their images for the book. Don't know what we need - go to MORE> FILES and look at the results of the 12-20 meeting which lists pictures we need. Don't have any pictures? Get out there and take some. Follow the instructions posted in MORE> FILES on preparing your images. Don't make them 5 stars. We know they are good but don't want any star rating. Also print and sign the release also found in MORE> FILES.

Hope to see you at the meeting. Come at 5:00 PM to network. RSVP so we will know how many are coming. Bring prictures for the critique.

This club is extremely active, and has a LOT to cover at its meetings. I feel they do a very good job keeping focused during the meeting. I always learn new and interesting things when I attend. I know there is not much time to go off-topic, even in a meeting that ran more than three hours non-stop (I had to leave at the three-hour mark, and they were still going strong). While there is time for networking before the meeting starts, it is hard for me to arrive much before the start time, and I have noticed other folks arriving for some time after the meeting starts. Sometimes I find out during the meeting that I want to speak with someone. Someone mentioned an interesting piece of software on Tuesday, and I wanted to talk with him, but there was no opportunity for me to do so after his comment. He did not leave the meeting, and there was no break. I hope he returns next month, and that I can recognize him, since I had not noticed him before - I believe he is a new member.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first meeting with the Photographic Art Club. It was very informative, entertaining and was a great way to make new friends with the same interest and passion for photography.

It was my first meeting and I very much enjoyed the people and content. Frank and the other presenters clearly have a lot to offer those of us looking to enhance our skills and I was appreciative of the work done in preparation of the meeting. Clearly this is a well organized group. There are two things that from my experience would have made the evening even better. The first is the electronic “clunking” noise emitted from the microphone system. It was both distracting and irritating. Highly recommend either upgrading the sound equipment or getting presenters with strong vocal chords. The other is the length of time of the meeting. Long meetings may well be what the majority prefers but after a long day I’d prefer 90 minutes or so but at three hours plus the attention and support for presenters is fading.
