About Rebecca (taken from her web site)

Yup, that’s me – with a passion for pictures. Family pictures. pictures of children, baby bumps, mom’s & dad’s, grandmas and sisters, kids with kids, kids outside, kids on elephants. All of us working and playing and living together in this great world. I capture life moments and make beautiful portraits.
Lifestyle portraiture and entertainment industry headshots are two of my strong suits- at ease with little ones, they take to my energetic, kooky nature which lends a comfort level that shows in my work. I have a talent for editing and bringing the natural beauty forward, enhancing what is already there. I catch the little details you'll cherish forever.

Recently I find I’m slightly obsessed with the macro, nature and architecture. The light, colors and textures draw me in and I enjoy shooting details as a way to decompress. Call it my Zen Period.

Along with shutter-bug, I'm a darn good mom to four little girls (yes, four!), a wife, a 30'something college student, a youth ministry volunteer, and a coffee junkie by necessity. Long live the bean!
I'm constantly challenged to think creatively to balance the madness of our busy lives. Popular opinion is I'm doing quite well, but what do they know?! :o ) My life is a nutty existence but I thank The Lord every day that I get to wear all my many hats. And that I get to share my blessings with those I touch.

NOTE: This FREE class will be held in a classroom on the 2nd floor of the Refinery at the Saddleback Lake Forest Campus.

First meet up and I was really happy with the material covered. The sharing off information is valuable for a newbie.... and trust me I do research online to find what works out there.... Loved the course... I will post pictures as soon as I can....

Excellent class and presentation by Rebecca! The workshop was great as well, letting us practice what we learned in class. The workshop was a bit disorganized in the beginning, but got better as it progressed.

While the presentation was helpful, I particularly appreciated workshop time to practice what we learned during the class.

This was my first experience with this group and I loved it. Rebecca was not only an excellent photographer but she was a vivacious and knowledgable speaker. She gave real life examples that everyone can use. I will definitely attend more meetups with this group.

I wrote that I "Might" attend. There was no space for a maybe (my attendance was based on whether or not I needed to take of small children that day, and I did and could not make it) I looked at the photos and it appears that everyone had a great time and clearly learned a lot. I am looking forward to upcoming events.

Donna, Donna, Saddleback Parkway is on the campus of Saddleback Church. It is located just north of El Toro on Portolo Parkway in Lake Forest. You can find Saddleback Parkway on Google Maps. The Refinery is a stand alone building with signs pointing the way once you turn onto the campus.

I'm new to the area; is there a street address?

    July 28, 2012

The class portion will last about 1.5 hours (until around 10:30) and the workshop another hour or so. Should wrap everything up around 11:30.

    Thanks Don :)

Atul - yes, the lecture will be in a classroom setting as before with a PowerPoint presentation. The workshop will take place afterwards outside around the Refinery grounds.

Hi Don - Do i understand correct that the Class Room session will be Lecture session with some Visual examples on screen ( as usually you do or what Vu did ) and the workshop will take place after the Lecture session ? I think if this is the process then all the attendees will be able to benefit from what the Rebecca has to share / teach.

I am tending to agree with Jim and Susan about foregoing the outdoor workshop. With so many people attending, it seems that only a few people in the area directly around the instructor will be able to see and hear and actually take shots. The majority of people will probably not be able to participate. Groups would not work due to the need for the instructor to address everyone in attendance.

    Jim,
That is exactly what we are going to do. We will have the class first. Anyone wanting to stick around for the workshop is welcome to do that.

    1 · July 24, 2012

  • Susan Brown M.

@Jim. You may have a point as last time everyone was crowded around trying to take photographs of the same model and it was difficult. People were accidentally stepping on each other's feet and it was hard to get good shots unless you were one who were able to push towards the front. Unless they had us photograph in smaller groups but that would take most of the time. I would love to learn how Becca started, how she markets herself, how she does her website and tools to create one & poses.

    2 · July 24, 2012

  • Jin

This is just my opinion, but I suggest that we don't spend time taking photos, and instead listen to what the instructors have to teach. We can practice after the class is over.

    Great! Thanks Don.

We will be finishing somewhere between 11 and 12, depending on how long the workshop goes.

    July 24, 2012

  • Ms_anamarbella

I am looking forward to this. Becca took my maternity and daughter's first pictures and she is absolutely fantastic. I do not see an end time, does anyone know how long this class will be?

Hi Don - This session seem to be another great learning experience, it is amazing to see that so many of fellow photographers will be attending. Thanks to you for arranging this. Looking forward.

Thanks Don :) Will carry only the Camera

With so many people attending the workshop a tripod might get in the way. When shooting portraits Rebecca or I rarely shoot with a tripod. Other pro photographers like Bob Fletcher from Canon who spoke a little over a month ago always use tripods to endure ultimate sharpness in their images. We will be shooting in the shade so I wouldn't recommend any filters.

    July 23, 2012

  • Atul

Thanks Don for arranging this. I am so intrigued, and eagerly waiting, hope to understand the appropriate techniques for capturing portraits.

Do we also need to bring Tripods / Filters ?
