This was a great workshop. Learned a lot about lighting. The weather was perfect, the models professional and the company of other photographers awesome. Such an amazing group of talented people. It was not only a photo shoot, but a learning experience. The instructor Mike is very knowledgeable, knows his stuff and loves to share. Looking forward to his next workshop.

This was much more than a meetup; it was a training session with Michale Moya, a wonderful instructor. He knows his subjects and how to present them in a meaningful, understandable way.

Hey everyone attending next weeks workshop. Checked out locations today in Alameda and we will stay at Crab Cove. Great area at north end of cove. Beach, rocks, trees, water, shade and sun. This area has less wind and great lighting options within arms length.
We will have area with benches and restrooms. The parking lot is only about 20 yards from where we will setup work station. I will arrive at 10am to setup so we can get a great spot. This end of the bay has little traffic.
Will send you detail directions to site tomorrow! Thanks Mike

We will more than likely move our shoot down the beach to Encinal Boat Ramp Park which is more secluded and looks to be better location for our May 18 shoot. The restrooms are closer to where we will shoot. All and all the location will be easier to access. Will send location change when definite. Thanks again Jay for recommendation!

Anytime Mike this was my secret spot for a while, bit tricking to find, thats why its not so crowded. With a low tight crop shot on the small beach area, it could almost look like a beach in Santa Cruz.

Thanks again Jay. Been in east bay for 30 years and did not know of this park!

Is it ok to bring extra pocket wizards??

    April 24, 2013

    • Michael M.

Yes that will be fine. I will be using pocket wizards on both sets for the set camera shooting. If you have your own that will be great! Welcome to our lighting group! Thanks Mike

Will there a commercial or promotional model release provided to photographers?

    April 22, 2013

    • Michael M.

Yes there will be electronic model release I use everytime I use a model. I will email the model release to all the photographers that participate.

      April 23, 2013

    • Michael M.

All my upcoming and prior shoots always have model releases. All photographers that have participated in any of my workshops have usage of their images.

Crab cove is crowded with families and kids on the weekend. A better more private place is a mile up at the Encinal Boat Ramp next to Encinal High School and Hornet Field. At the end of the parking lot there is an old picnic area with low canopy trees. There is even a small beach area with less rocks than Crab Cove. Just suggesting. Regards

Good point Jay. I was planning on the north side close to beach where there are trees. But I was considering the congestion of families using the park. I will check your location. The private spots sounds more appealing.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
