Hosted by Center for Photography of Madison, the February 21st Third Thursday presentation will cover Alfred Stieglitz and Frederik Evans.
Stieglitz's passion to see photography as an art was fundamental in promoting this new type of art that we know today as photography. Through a lot of positive as well as negative criticisms, Stieglitz's dream came true and photography is now considered a serious art medium.
Evans was a fundamental architecture photographer, specializing in shooting cathedrals. We will be focusing on his masterpiece "Sea of Steps" for personal comments and feelings. This will be the first session in which discussion will focus on image analysis characteristics such as angle of shooting, depth of field, how-would-you-do-it, etc. and try to learn from history.
