A short Madison summer will make you appreciate the greenery and majesty of nature like nothing else. Let's celebrate the dog days with landscape photography! Join us for our August monthly meeting in the community room at the Verona library.
Topic Presentation and Discussion:
Co-organizer Adam, an avid outdoor photographer, will talk about what to look for when you're on your next summer adventure, how to scout locations remotely and how to compose your best landscape images.
"Pick Three" Member Slideshow:
But before we get to their presentation, we'll run thru our "Pick Three" slideshow of pictures from members like you!
About a week before the meeting, you will be asked to submit up to 3 photos to share with the group (please keep it PG-13). You'll have an opportunity to introduce yourself and talk a little about your photos. Don't worry, this is not a public critique. We're a friendly group who loves to look at and talk about photos as much as you do. And don't be shy, even if this is your first meeting--we want to see your photos!
Please upload your images to our Flickr group and tag them "Aug2014Meeting."
YOUR HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT FOR THIS MEETING: For the August monthly meeting slideshow, your challenge is to try night photography. At the July meeting, co-organizers Bill & Katie talked about capturing light trails and the night sky with long exposures. You can also use the night mode on your camera to better capture portraits in low light. Try a sunset, the Capitol at night or the skyline across the lake.
Sometimes we continue the discussion over coffee or drinks nearby.
Let's meet at The Draft House Bar & Restaurant, at Cross Country Road and Enterprise Drive. If you can't make the meeting, feel free to meet us at the Draft House around 8:30 pm.
Monthly meetings are the heart of our Meetup group. They are held on the first Thursday of the month. We don't take photos at this meeting, but we share our favorite shots from the last month and learn a new technique to work on for the next month. The topic discussed at the monthly meeting then becomes your homework for the member slideshow at the next monthly meeting.
So join us! Meet people who share your love for photography, learn something new, and make some new friends!
