Photographers Needed: Amer. Lung Assoc. Event in Milwaukee - 3.22

  • Mar 22, 2014 · 7:00 AM
  • US Bank Building

Hi everyone,

My name is Luke Witkowski and I work for the American Lung Association in WI. Each year our organization hosts a fundraising event called the Fight For Air Climb. This year’s event will be held at the US Bank Building in Milwaukee on Saturday, March 22nd. The climb is the NATION’S LARGEST and challenges over 2,000 participants to climb over a thousand stairs and raise money to prevent and treat lung disease. I volunteer that day as the lead photographer. I'm looking to our Meet-Up group for an additional 3-5 more photographers to shoot the event (candids, team photos, action shots, etc.) with me on Saturday, March 22nd between 7am - 3pm. If you can only spare a few hours, that's fine too. We need the most help between 8am - 2pm. If you are available and interested the American Lung Association would greatly appreciate your photography expertise. Last year, Meet-Up members John and Bill volunteered and had this to say about the event and their experience:

“This was a very enjoyable event. I got to work on my candid shots. Thanks Luke for posting this. Hope to be able to help next year.” - John

“Awesome. I'm so glad I could be a part of this.” – Bill

Check out the gallery that was posted after the event on our Meet-Up site to get a feel for the event: This event provides a great opportunity to practice your indoor shooting skills, plus you’ll be volunteering your time to help out a cause that has an amazing mission. You'll even get access to the top floor of the US Bank Building, the tallest building in WI, for beautiful vistas of the Milwaukee area.

Please contact me with your interest at[masked] or [masked] by Monday, March 17th. Thanks in advance for your consideration!

You may want to post this in the Milw photo group, also.

Hi Brian. I've tried posting to their meet up group but it requires permission from the meet up organizer. I've reached out to him with a personal email and not heard back. Too bad, I really think this event would be great practice for their members. Thanks for the recommendation!

Sorry to hear that. The Milw group has 4 organizers and you can contact them all from their meetup page. That may be better than just emailing the organizer.

I may be able to assist with this event, though I would need transportation from Madison to the event and back.

Hi Ken...any update as to whether or not you'll be able to assist with the event? We are really short of photographers that day and could use your help. Let me know. Thanks!

I did this last year. It's a very rewarding day photographing. Two things very impressive: the elite group that starts out the event, I personally captured some people four times on the stairway, though they did more than just four rounds. The second is when the firemen, firewomen take to the stairs with full rescue gear, about 40 pounds if I remember correctly. I'm moving Saturday and won't be able to make it myself this year.
I highly recommend joining Luke on this.

Hi Bill...thanks for the endorsement! We'll miss you this year. Maybe we can have you volunteer next year? Good luck with your move.
