Farm Photo Shoot

Heartland Farm Sanctuary is located on 90 acres in Verona.  The barn is in need of some repairs but is generally in good condition.  I feel that it makes for a good photo subject both inside and out.  There are a variety of animals that are housed inside or will be outside in the pasture area:  geese, roosters, pigs, goats, etc.  There is an amazing view out the back of the barn over the majority of the acreage, beautiful, rolling fields and open sky.  Please consider donating a photo CD of your shoot to the Sanctuary to help with their marketing and fundraising purposes.  See you there!!

I blush to say it now, but my initial reaction yesterday afternoon WAS that I didn't see all that much on the farm that I really felt inspired to photograph. Also, I found that I'm inhibited by having to coordinate my roaming with other people. BUT the real benefit of this meetup came when I started to see what others had photographed under exactly the same conditions that were available to me: some outstanding and artistically interesting photos that opened my eyes to how much I still have to learn about both the creative and technical side of photography. I would have never learned this lesson had I visited the farm on my own! In short, it took seeing others' results to recognize the true value of meetups like this one, and I will go to the next one prepared to challenge myself a little more than I did this time. Thanks, everyone!

I know the weather wasn't on our side. I would have preferred a later time so the light and shadows would be more distinct. I enjoyed meeting a few people--it was my first meetup.

This was a great opportunity, thank you for setting it up. On a funny note...I got home and realized the sheep and goats were better behaved better than my two dogs!

@Kristin, thanks for the update. I am unfortunately unable to go to the earlier time. I plan on being there Saturday night for the Capitol shoot.

@Dan: I checked with the Director of the shelter and she would prefer with size of a group visiting, that a 2 year old not be present. She did encourage you to contact her if you would like to schedule a private tour in which you could bring your child. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!!!

Would it be inappropriate to bring along a 2 year-old toddler?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
