REMIX fashion show

There are REMIX fashion shows at UW on Saturday, May 10. They have three shows and a dress rehearsal. They have one pro photographer hired but he may only be at one show so they would like volunteer photographers at any of the shows.   No previous experience with fashion photography is needed.

I will get there about 1:30 for the 2pm show. I can meet you at 1:30 at the entrance and then I'm going to the end of the runway so can meet people there. I can give my cell # to those that rsvp.   I can be the primary point of contact between members and the show organizers--for press passes and forwarding photos for the 2pm show.  If you are interested in attending one of the other shows, indicate that in the comments or you can volunteer to lead a separate meetup event.

Here is the website and what I found out:

WHEN: The shows are Saturday, May 10 at 2, 5, and 8pm. Each show is approximately 1-hour long. Two short dance pieces serve as transitions, one in the beginning and one half-way through. The dress rehearsal is at 7:30 on Friday, May 9. They have room for 7 to 10 photographers at each show.

WHERE: 1300 Linden Drive, Nancy Nicholas Hall, School of Human Ecology.

PAYMENT: None but you get free show admission at the runway location (worth $25-$35).

PARKING: You are on your own. There are some metered and free lots nearby but they may be full. 8pm show will be the most crowded. Maps are here: http://transportation.wisc.edu/resources/maps.aspx

PHOTO RIGHTS: REMIX will want access to the photos to share with designers and stylists, giving credit to the photographers.

They want a list of people for each show so they can check them in at the ticket table and give them a "PRESS" name tag. Photographers will be standing at the end of the runway (typical of fashion shows). You can check in 30 minutes prior to each show.

If some people are interested in only shooting the receptions and special exhibits that don't happen in the show space, or if someone is interested in shooting backstage and hair/make-up, those shots are always fun to have as well. We have an awards ceremony at 9:30 that could/should be documented as well. There will also be a design gallery and senior thesis presentations you can photograph as well.

Lastly, if a few photographers would be interested in an exclusive set up just for us to take photos of all the looks in the show, they may be able to arrange that.

Lot 20 and 27 should have free parking, also. I gave our names to Cory so we can pick up our press passes at the entrance.

Looks like the nearest free parking is lot 26 on Observatory Dr, lot 40 behind Babcock hall, and lot 55 near Chemistry.

I don't have fashion experience either but I don't think that matters. This is a volunteer effort and they will appreciate any decent photos they get. As long as you have a decent camera and know the basics of how to use it, that should be good enough, so feel free to rsvp and join us.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
