Sat May 17th is the 9th annual Worldwide InstaMeet! Let's join in the fun and put Madison on the map along with 600+ cities around the globe, all posting under the hashtag #WWIM9.
An InstaMeet is a "gathering of people coming together to connect, explore and celebrate their creativity, " usually thru the smartphone app Instagram. Groups of users will get together on the 17th at locations all over the world to take and share photos. Instagram is a free app for iOS, Android, or Windows Phone. But you don't have to be an Instagrammer to join in and have fun at this meetup.
Photographer and blogger Chase Jarvis said "the best camera is the one that's with you. " I take that to heart. I am a huge fan of mobile photography (or in my case iPhoneography) and I love to share the fun!
For this meetup, you can Instagram if you'd like to (I'm @summerbl4ck, and here's how you can find more of our members, and share your username), but it's not required. The main thing will be to come out and have some fun with your camera-phone, regardless of what photo apps you use or whether you choose to share your images at all. We'll share tips and tricks, talk about apps to edit, stitch and filter your photos.
The Dane County Farmers' Market is always a great place for pictures. But because it's so awesome, it can be crowded! We're going to beat the crowds by showing up early! Let's meet in the little park area by Ian's Pizza and the WI Veterans Museum at Carroll and State Streets (map), walk around the Square, then end up at Michelangelo's Coffee House, 114 State St. (map). If you'd rather just meet us for coffee, we'll try to be there around 8:30 am--try to save us a seat ;-)
There is a public parking ramp at W. Johnson and Carroll Streets or on W. Mifflin south of Henry.
Be there or be "square"!
