If a conflict arises with the 1st Thurs of every month I will post with another date, otherwise plan for the 1st Thursday of every month.
Monthly meetup to share photos and discuss techniques. Each month we will pick a theme and shooting technique for inspiration and motivation to get us out practicing and shooting. Bring photos (flash drive, CD or printed) to the meetup on the theme and/or technique to share with the group. If you don’t have any photos to share, feel free to come and join in the discussion.
Please bring, include, or otherwise capture your camera's EXIF data (camera settings - aperture f stop, shutter speed and ISO). This will help us learn and understand the impact these settings have on our photos.
Theme: Reflections and Shadows
Technique: Shutter Speed
Shutter speed, one of the three elements of exposure, effects the motion of moving subjects in the photo. Shutter speed can stop motion or allow you to create a motion blur. You can set the shutter speed for a photo if your camera has manual settings (dSLR cameras and some point and shoots) using either the full manual mode (where you pick the settings – shutter speed, aperture and ISO) or shutter priority (where you pick the shutter speed and the camera picks the aperture and ISO).
For more information on how shutter speed effects your photos check out this article: http://www.digital-photography-school.com/shutter-speed
