Monica, it was nice meeting you as well. Indeed we will have to exchange info if we caravan again. Good luck during the Madison Winter Festival. Maybe a few of us might stroll on up from the polar plunge & snap some shots of the action there.

Ryan, glad we met up at the start of the race. Next time, yes cell phone #'s. :) Thanks for waiting and willing to caravan...until next time, take care.

Great to meet some of the group for the first time. Beautiful day, fun hiking in the snow, and an absolutely crazy, unmarked course.

Fun event and a beautiful day. Not that anyone could have done anything, but I wish the obstacles were closer together.

A somewhat confusing course made for a challenging day. Other than that, it was a great experience to expand my learning in action photography.

Hey monica. I suppose we should have exchanged numbers in case something came up. I was at the sears lot until 9:50 this morning. Hopefully we see you at the event today.

    Ryan,

Sounds good, see you @ 9:30.

    Monica,

I just googled the time to get there & it is about a 50 minute drive. I think it is best to actually leave madison at 9:30am so that we have time to get there, find parking, get a quick feel for the place & find the other members. What do you think? Make sure to bring some warm shoes/boots now that we will probably be standing in some snow!

Snow!! It looks like we may get 6+ inches tomorrow, so there may be snow for this event after all.

Just for everyones reference, the races start at 9 and go till 3, I just picked 11 as a good time that wasn't to early. New flights of racers start every 30 minutes, so we should be able to see a few different groups of people go through.

That being said, getting there early won't really help as early would be 8:30, but I imagine people will be leaving and coming all day as the different flights go off, so hopefully parking shouldn't be too much of an issue.

    Hey y'all!
I live in Oconomowoc, and have been to Olympia many times. The parking lot fills up rather quickly, so I recommend getting there early. Can't wait to meet you all!
    (Except you, Adam. ;)) Cheers!

No problem monica, totally understand. You mentioned carpooling so just threw the offer out. I will meet at sears & we can follow each other there. Should be a fun outing!

Hey Ryan, will meet you their, and caravan if that is alright with you. Appreciate the offer, however, not up for driving with someone I have never met, hope you can appreciate that, if not, well that is okay too. Still new to Madison, so will find East Towne mall and meet you in the parking lot of Sears @ 10 am. Sat. Follow you to the event. Thnx, and see you then.

Monica, I would be heading back to madison after the event is finished. if you want, we can meet at east town mall at Sears lot. I can park out far so you can find me or vice versa. I have a silver ford focus. I'd say meet there at 10am. I don't care who drives & we can pitch in to cover gas which shouldnt be too much.

Yes I will be at the starting line at 11am, Ryan and Monica if you guys want to carpool great. Otherwise I will keep an eye out for everyone.

I was at the cyclocross for a few mins. before the womens race ended and had to be elsewhere before the mens began (bummer) and yes, there were so many photographers about. How about a meeting site, then if you want to stay at the event later or vice versa we can depart. I am in Monona and happy to meet anywhere...downtown or elsewhere to caravan.

I am up for carpooling if anyone wants to do so. I shot the cyclocross national championship yersterday & there were a lot of people w/ dslr's so it could be hard finding others depending on how many tog's show up. If we do carpool, I know what adam looks like so it would be easier to find eachother.

Hi Adam, Okay, so, 11am at the starting line, this is the spot & time to meet. Will have my camera connected to my body..
    Thnx.

Hi Monica, I don't think that will be possible as I live in Lake Mills, Ryan is in Sun Prairie and the others are from Oconomowoc. However if more people join this meetup that may well change.

Last time we photographed an event like this we met at the starting line at the listed time and that seemed to work out pretty well. It should be to hard to find the group of people all with cameras around their necks. If you have yours on too it will make it easier for us to keep an eye out.

Hi, carpooling or trying to meet at this event? Could we carpool or meet at a locale here in Madison and follow each other, then we could leave at whatever time we desired. Otherwise never having met any of you before, and looking around with hundreds of people would be a real challenge. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Yes there is supposed to be snow for this event, however it is not the sole aspect of the event. The are many different challenges and obstacles that the runners will face that are not dependent on snow.

    January 8, 2012

  • Ryan E.

I believe it is intended to have snow for many aspects. Adam said that they have snow making machines so hopefully they will have at least some snow for parts of it. It should be fun to photograph either way.

    Is this a snow-oriented event?
