This trip is officially full. If you are still interested rsvp and it will place you on the waiting list. Chris will contact you if somebody is unable to make it.
One of our members Chris is trying to charter a pontoon boat to watch the swimming portion of the IronMan this weekend. See below for his details.
Next Sunday is the IronMan triathlon race in Madison. About 2200 athletes will attempt to swim 2.4 miles in lake Monona, Bike 112 miles from Madison, past Verona and beyond, before returning to Madison and attempting to run a full 26.2 mile marathon... all in less than 17 hours.
I am wondering if anyone is interested in joining me aboard the MSCR pontoon boat to watch the swim portion of the event. If you've never seen it... think "amazing"... think "awesome"... heck don't think... join me!
Here's my thoughts...
Race starts at 7am next Sunday by the water ski ramp in front of the Convention Center. I will book the MSCR pontoon boat. We would need to be on the boat by 6:30am... maybe 6:15am... I will confirm that later.
The boat costs just over $100.00
If we can get a dozen folks it would be $10 each and a tip for the MSCR captain.
We would be on the water until about 9:45am (all swimmers have to be out of the water by 9:15am).
We could sort out coffee, juice, doughnuts, bagels etc. between us... breakfast on the boat!
This Meetup is one that folks would have to be absolutely committed to when they RSVP. (For obvious reasons, it would not be fun for me to have folks cancel at the last minute and I'm on the boat by myself and footing the bill!)
If you have questions... post them below and I will answer them.
Incidentally... I will be signing up for IM 2013 the next morning!!! :)
This will be something you will not regret doing!
I will be posting this on a couple of Meetup sites in an effort to get a full boat.
Kids... lets keep it to 14 y/o plus please... we are on the boat for a while.
