The next monthly meeting of the Madison Photography Meetup Group is Thursday July 11 at 6:30 pm at the Alicia Ashman branch library. We usually meet on the first Thursday of the month but because the Fourth falls that day we will meet the following week instead.
The theme that we are working on is controlling shutter speed. In case you missed the presentation at the June meeting, here's a good overview from Digital Photography School. Fireworks are an awesome excuse to work on this technique. There are a number of clips on YouTube on capturing fireworks and here's some advice that includes compact cameras too. Don't forget the opportunity to shoot fun portraits with family and friends.
Next week, join us for a sunset walk thru Governor Nelson State Park. I'm an avid iPhone-ographer; bring your camera phone too and we can swap tips and tricks! On July 18th, put your thinking cap on for a Mystery Photo Walk and Scavenger Hunt. Co-organizer Steven will announce the location soon and you'll get the list of words for the hunt on the walk! Followed by a hands-on portrait workshop in Marshall Park and an exclusive chance to view the rock n' roll memorabilia at Midwest Family Broadcasting.
Summer is a busy time. If you can't make it to the July monthly meeting, check out the meetup page for the schedule of monthly meetings thru the end of the year and of course for more meetups. If you have a suggestion for a meetup activity, feel free to add it to the meetup page. Most of all, get out there an take advantage of the warm weather, long days and the magical light at golden hour. (And yes there's even an app for that!)
Hope to see you soon!
