Photography is becoming more popular these days due to technology advancements and affordable prices. Camera makers have made photography easy by allowing the camera to do all the heavy lifting for you. And that's great when you need to quickly update your facebook profile with that duck face selfie.
But as you may be finding out, your camera's auto modes are robbing you of expressing the creativity that manual control offers.
What to expect:
The exposure series has 4 parts to it... this is Part 1 of 4.
It is designed for those who are primarily using the fully automatic exposure settings on their camera but wish to explore using the semi and fully manual modes. Or for those wanting the firm foundation that everything else is built upon. If you want to know more about your camera settings and how to use them effectively, this is the place to start.
You've heard the terms... aperture, shutter speed, ISO, f-stops, depth of field, digital noise, exposure compensation, metering, dynamic range, histogram, etc.... but what does it all mean?... And how can all that stuff help you make better images?
Which aperture do I start with? And which shutter speed? Why are my pictures so blurry, dark, or washed out?... and how do I prevent it from happening? What is bokeh and how do I make my pictures have a soft background? I remember having the same questions some 17 years ago and struggling to put it all together.
This class is designed to answer those questions and more in a way that is very easy to understand. And I am confident that you will be confident with using that knowledge immediately following the class. As a matter of fact, you will get the opportunity to practice as part of the class. You will also be given exercises designed to help you to strengthen that knowledge. You will be given a method to help you ease away from the auto modes that limit your creativity. You will need to think about the steps at first, but within a short time this thought process will become second nature and you will be ready for your next challenge. :)
This one class alone can change your photography forever!
See you there!
Experience Level: Any.
Recommended Prerequisites: If you get a chance please glance over the camera manual sections related to aperture, shutter speed, ISO. Identify where these settings are located and how to adjust them on your camera. We will be going over these settings, so it's not mandatory.
Bring with you: Camera / Camera User Manual. If you don't have your camera manual, leave a message here stating which camera (make/model) you will be bringing when you RSVP.
Only RSVP if you are sure you will be attending. If you have guests that would like to attend with you they are welcome. Just add the number of guests attending when you RSVP. Keep in mind that they are treated as a member for the event and there will be an event fee for each person attending.
