Mounts Botanical Gardens

If you love strolling through bountiful gardens with your camera, this month’s MeetUp at Mounts Botanical Gardens in West Palm Beach will more than fill the bill. If flowers, exotic trees, tropical fruit, herbs, citrus, and palms from Florida and faraway lands excite you photographically, join us and challenge yourself along with several of the Old School Square instructors who will be there to answer any questions you may have. Tripods are welcome and reflectors (if you have them) might also prove useful.

The Botanical Garden is Palm Beach County's oldest and, at 14 acres, largest public garden. Plants from six continents grace Mounts beautiful landscaped grounds and reflect the tremendous horticultural opportunities provided by the county’s unique growing environment. From temperate North American trees to the rarest of tropical fruits; from aquatics to arid land plants, our MeetUp at Mounts will offer something for every photographic taste and interest.

If you have any questions about anything to do with the Gardens or their environment, please contact Mounts directly.

Date: Saturday, May 31st 2014

Time: 8:30am. Event organizers will be in the “REAR” parking lot until 9:00 am.

Fee: A donation of $5 will gratefully be accepted and management requests exact change in cash please.

Directions: From I-95 Take the Southern Blvd. exit west to Military Trail, then go north on Military Trail 1/2 mile to Mounts Botanical Garden (on the west side, across from the western end of Palm Beach International Airport runways).

Parking: VERY IMPORTANT – please read carefully. For anyone already familiar with their parking lot at the front entrance - #531 N. Military Tr. – you know it is very small. We as a group will NOT be parking there. We will leave the front lot for the general public that might also like to visit the Gardens that morning. We will be using their “REAR” lot which has over 100 spaces. Please car pool if possible.

REAR LOT entrance is on Golf Street. Golf Street runs west off Military Trail and is found just north of the big blue ground-level DRIVERS LICENSE DEPT. facility next to Mounts Gardens. Military Trail has a center divider on this stretch. On Military Trail, drive north of the Driver’s License facility and make a U-TURN heading back south on Military and double back to Golf Street, then turn west (right). Go to the end of Golf Street (less than a block) and enter through the tall white wall/gate on the left side. #559 N. Military Trail - Mounts Botanical Gardens is in big lettering on the gate.

Sorry I can't make it. Watching our granddaughter's dance recital & our grandson's graduation from nursery school trumps going to amounts Botanical Gardens. Grandchildren come 1st. I'll go to Mounts Botanical in a week or 2. Unfortunately the lighting when they normally open is not as good as it would be for the group going tomorrow. Taking photos @ 8 am is much better than at 10 am.

I am also looking forward to meet at my first meetup.

Will we be there all day?

    May 24, 2014

You do not need a flash. You. Igbo want to do some macro shooting, a zoom would be good. It's ok to bring a tripod, but only if you want to.

We meet as a group at the arrival time, then split up and wander around at our own speed. Members are always willing to share ideas and information and instructors are also available. Be sure to introduce yourself to either me or Russell Levine....we are both instructors at Delray Center for the Arts.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
