5 Week Lighting Course

  • January 16, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • The Photo Collective: Photogenic Images and Robert Harrington Studios

This is the first of a few 5 week courses on lighting that I'll run throughout the year.

This one is a new format.

We'll take a look at different lighting styles and techniques using a host of different gear, including full-line professional stuff to do-it-yourself lighting modifiers you have in your home.

Week 1: On camera flash, then on camera mixed with off camera

Week 2: Off camera flash

Week 3: Strobe lighting

Week 4: DIY Fluorescent lighting

Week 5: Misc lighting and items that are in your garage

A different model will be provided every week, so this is a great time to learn lighting techniques and add a bit to your portfolio.

I'll cover:

Exposure, White Balance, composition, standard versus creative lighting for portraits.

We'll use all my gear to get great results in my studio where it's warm and dry and fun-filled.

This is a great way to learn light and to also see what you can do with simple gear.

Bob, thank you for letting me drop in. I learned a lot regarding using the DIY constant lights. Your demonstrations regarding how to use them were really helpful. And I appreciate the camera holding technique that I will try and master. Oh yes, one problem, your model Angela was too stunning... so now I am having a problem deciding what pictures to post. Oh well I guess I will suffer through it. ;-)

Hi Ed, not a problem on the drop-in. Suffer, yes suffer through the choosing process. Angela is a stunner, that's for sure!

Hello Bob, I was wondering if this meetup would be worth it for me? I have takin a five-week class of yours and I'm not sure if these class's are similar to the one I went to.

Hi Joe, This one is totally a different format. We do on camera, off camera, strobes, fluorescent, and a smattering of different light sources at the end.

Hi Bob, Hope you remember me! First of all a very Happy New Year to you. I very much want to attend the course especially when I am looking to build my lighting gear from now on. Just wanted to check whether the next sessions would be on the same time and same day of the week or vary.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
